My first son had to wear 18 & 24 month stuff when he was 6+ months because he was so large. We just rolled up his pants. Now at two, he can still wear some 24 months pants. He was still wearing that 18 month stuff up until fall! He was always in the 90th percentile, then once he was 2 he was pretty much average.

Niceee!! My gma tried to tell me that A's butt wasn't that big and it was her diaper, umm yea not so much. She seriously is all butt and belly. lol I'm assuming when she hits puberty that is going to be all butt and boobs.

We took our DD off the enricher or whatever they were putting in my BM to make it 24cal. when she came home. She was gaining like a mad woman. You're the parent and if you feel like it's ok then do it. Doctors don't know your child like you. I'd say at 15lbs I'd stop too. My DD was almost 17lbs. at 6 months.

Quoting JuliaSacramento:" i know...lol. but its so confusing with the preemies!! like docs are comparing him with other babies ... [snip!] ... age not adjusted. so i was thinking if he came out when he was supposed to and was 16lbs minus 6 weeks he would be overweight."

They compare them like that because they want them to try and catch up to other babies their age, thats one reason why they are on the 24 cal. formula. DD was a 34 weeker and her pedi compared her to other babies her age that were born at term, then he would tell me just remember it's okay if she's a little behind because she was a preemie. She has always been on track with development, her weight wasn't far behind at all and now at 14 months she's caught up with that too. Talk to the pedi first, but they will more than likely take the baby off anyway..they took DD off of it at 6 months and changed her to a regular formula.

my baby wasnt a preemie but a heart baby, and was on 24 k/cal for a week after coming home from the hospital before i stopped adding extra cals to his BM. he gained 15oz in one week LOL so i figured it would be fine, i told the doc at the next dr apt and he was fine with it. for people that dont know, higher cal formula is actually harder on the kidneys and liver, so its best to not use it longer than necessary. (am a nurse as well) as long as he doesnt start loosing weight, he should do fine on regular 20 k/cal

I thought the recommensation on the 24 cal was that once they tripled their weight that they didnt need to be on it anymore. My son was really small (35 weeker) and his pedi recommended it until 9 months, well at 9 months he hadnt tripled his weight yet so we did it until he got to cows milk. And its not that big of a deal. If you feel your son doesnt need it dont buy it anymore, seems like he doesnt need the extra help that most preemies do which is awesome! My son is 15 months and is still below the 5th percentile and only weighs 19 lbs.. it is a blessing that he is gaining weight
