Vaccine Questions...Is it safe?
posted 22nd Apr
I never really thought about vaccinations, I just thought that it was something that everyone did, until a friend told me that her son is not vaccinated because it increases the risk of autism and can cause VERY harmful side effects. I want to know what you all think about being vaccinated vs non being vaccinated. How do they work? I have read some stories about people who have had babies suddenly die after having shots, or children who develop siezures. My daughter is going in to get another set of shots on thursday, and I am starting to freak out. Please help!!

There are tons of debates on this subject in the D&D forums.
Personally, I was vaccinated, so was my daughter and we are both clearly alive.

For my opinion you can read for yourself. You can look back at some of my posts about my son. All his medical issues started two days after his 4 month vaccinations and we're still fighting for answers two months later. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with his upcoming 6 month check.........

The one in question for Autism is the MMR. I just had a long discussion with my Uncle about this on Sunday because he is a pediatrician. He stated that the vaccine is safe. There is no longer mercury in the preservative and the initial study that discovered the so-called connection was was proven innacurate, by the man that conducted the study. The man was being paid by a lawyer to find some kind of connection between the vaccines and autism. He told me it's safer to get my baby vaccinated than to risk her getting measles, mumps or rubella. But, I will admit, it still makes me nervous!!

My sister has 3 autistic children out of her 6. The 3 with autism are from the same father so personally I believe autism is caused by genetics not vaccinations. All of her children have been vaccinated.

Ya know.. I wondered the same thing.. Jocelyn got her 2mo shots @ 9wks old, and the very next day she developed Colic.. and the Pediatrician told me she developed it late because I had her 3.5wks early.. But I still think about those shots in my head sometimes... She didn't get over Colic until she was about 4.5mo old.. it was hard as hell, but we got thru it!!
Oh, and she is up to date on ALL vaccines.. and haven't noticed anything else since!

we are spacing vaccines so Noah never gets more then one or two at a time. This is part of the problem with vaccines, their little tiny bodies are loaded with like 4 or 5 shots at once with lots of chemicals and icky stuff in them. im not really comfortable with vaccinating at all but i feel much better about spacing them out! there are a lot of websites and books about spacing vaccines..you should read about it if your interested

I'm personaly choosing to get my daughter all her vaccinations, back in the day, when my aunts were born, they weren't vaccinated, and actually caught something.. i don't really remember, but she died. And that scares the heck outta me. I cancan an autistic child just as mush as a healthy one, if that was to happen. I couldn't handle her getting sick and something maybe happening to her. ya know..

I did do that with all his shots. I let him get two at a time.

i have mixed emotions on the subject...the illnesses that are vaccinated against aren't prevelant, and if they are contracted most of the time they are things that being exposed to help build natural immunities to and can be cured if necessary, with the exception of like polio but polio isn't in this country...it would be like vaccinating for small pox just because. there are a lot of studies, not just one, on the effects of vaccines and the only risk isn't just mercury as a preservative, there are all types of bad things used as preservatives...the Ragedy Anne doll was actually created by a man whose daughter was just randomly vaccinated at school and got sick and eventually died, while sick she became like a ragedy doll. i still havent made up mymind on the issue, its something my fiance are really talking and thinking hard about, but the evidence and answersare deffinately out there people just dont look for them because they refuse to ask questions.

The link of autism has been discredited and Dr. Wakefield and colleagues are in trouble.
There are risks to everything we do. As a parent you must weight the risks vs the benefits. Yes there are side effects that can occur, but they are more rare than the chances of being in a car crash but you still drive right?
I personally vaccinate because I don't know what my kids will come in contact with. People come in and out of this contry everyday. There was recently a measles outbreak in the area. And one in San Diego. I would hate being constantly worried about something like that.

That's what my other 2 links were in reference to. I have yet to see concrete proof that they cause autism. My friend teaches Special Ed. and a big percentage of her autistic students were NOT vaccinated. I would never forgive myself if my child got some deadly disease, and I had not vaccinated her. The cases in California (where I live) the unvaccinated child brought it back from another country. It's becoming very dangerous.

Yep, I was typing while you posted
And I work with four autistic kids, and 3 of them were not vaccinated.
