re: C-section ?

posted 27th Mar '12
C-sections are not the worst things in the world. My first one was an emergency c-section at 35 or 36 wks 17 years ago. The only problem delivering early is that they have to make sure the lungs are healthy, my daughters were not so I had to have a shot to help them. I HAD to deliver no matter what. That is the only thing to worry about delivering so early. She is fine to this day and only took her a few months after birth to catch up with weight and height.
Seriously though at 37 wks everything should be fine and the c-section will be no problem, just sore in the tummy instead of the vagina and you'll also get better pain meds

I had a complete/total placenta previa up until 25 weeks until it moved. My c-section was already planned for just one week in advance and was told that it wouldn't be moved up unless something happened. And before the doctors would put someone on complete bedrest something would have to have happened to where you started bleeding, so like I was on pelvic rest and restrictions. Just be careful lifting anything more than a few pounds, no sex, and try not to cause forceful/stressful movement to your pelvic area.

Im 28 weeks too. so i wonder since they are checking me at 30 weeks ...i wonder if its still low if theyre gonna wait a couple more weeks & check again or go ahead & schedule me for one...hmmm.
& yes i know people say they really aint bad but im still gonna be scared cause its my first time and i have no idea what to expect or no idea how to prepare for it.

I read hey check p to 35-36 weeks and if it is still low then, it's c section time. I guess it depends on your Doctor. Some will plan the c section at 34 weeks, others wait until 36.

I just hope it moves by my next appointment. I really don't want a c section.

Have you had any bleeds? That's my biggest fear honestly. I hear the bleeding can be massive and cause you to end up in the hospital for the rest of your pregnancy. I am freaking out lol

It depends on how bad it gets. Usually a c section is scheduled one week before your due date, but that is usually if your baby is breech. In your situation they might have you start steroid shots (they hurt) to help develop your baby's lungs just in case you do have to deliver your baby early.

Good Luck with everything..

They give the shots right on each side of your upper butt cheeks. Its not like they hurt hurt, its more of a stinging and a little soreness afterwords. Its all worth it for you little one.
