excessive bleeding

i dont get it. its been almost 7 weeks since ive had kiley and im still bleeding terribly. my dr said i was healing fine and released to do normal daily activities. (sex ) but im still bleeding?!?! I woke up this morning and i felt a huge gush. i bled through my panty liner, panties, pants, and onto our bed  so embarrased. so i had to call my dr today. it doesnt all feel normal. she just told me i HAD to start my birth control TODAY and i may need to double up on it in a couple days if the bleeding doesnt calm. So what is causing this?? is it my hormones?? i dont get it?!?!

wow i guess no one has had this happen to them.. hmmm....
