oh my god thats scary...i was really sick the othr day i was throwing up and everything and i called my doc and she didnt think anything of it...but thank god it was nothing like u to women had..thats scary..and how are u kids now..it didnt effect them

Girls, on average, mature faster than boys, even in the womb. That is what my nurse told me. I had my son at 35 weeks and he spent 3 weeks in the NICU, but his stay was lengthened by a nasty staph infection that almost caused him not to make it. There were girls in there also but they just seemed to come in and leave while I was still waiting....

Jeez i wish i knew, soon enough its gona be half a year and no indication of coming home. Sometimes i get positive, things are going well, and i suspect we will make it home on monitors within a few weeks. Then things take a turn for the worse or progress slows/stops and im back to wondering if hes gona make it at all. It sucks! .... sorry im just venting! But things sound really positive for you, il bet you'll be home within a couple of weeks MAX. I guess all youre waiting for now is full feeds   At 4.5lbs he should be doing great in the open crib anytime now. Ask the staff how long they think and whats their plans and thoughts on everything - then you will be thinking along the same lines and not get disappointed. Congrats on making it through 5 weeks and staying strong, you'll be home together soon mama

I really genuinely hope that you are doing well through all of this and that your baby comes home soon. I dont know your story but it sounds like you have been through so much. I will definitely be praying for you and your child/children.

my son died 3 weeks later, but not b/c he contracted the infection too. This is the shitty part and warning...it will piss you off!
the NICU nurse ACCIDENTALLY turned his oscillator off (life support) and couldn't get it back on!! BITCHES

You can't begin to imagine the anger I went through. I don't know how I survived it mentally. I seriously pictured myself going to that hospital and going on a murder rampage, like you see on the news! But I kept thinking about the innocent preemie babies in there. It was a nightmare I NEVER want to relive!

i am so so so sorry to hear that..i would want to kill someone...not trying to get in your buisness but did u sue(sp) i mean that is def there fault..

they told me the day before he came home, they made me take cpr courses and things and take all his feedings by bottle

when my son came home they told me 2 days before they said he had to be at least 37 week gest. 4 lbs holding his own temp full feeds on the bottle and continually gaining weight

I had twin girls at 27 weeks and we spent 68 days in the NICU. My girls were perfectly healthy and didn't come early for any reason except they were ready to come. As far as when they get to come home has nothing to do with how much they weigh. For us it was simply once they were able to take all of their feedings on their own. My girls were almost 37 weeks which is the average for 27 weekers. We could've went home earlier if I hadn't tried so hard to breastfeed. Basically they just need a clean bill of health and able to eat on their own. One of mine came home on caffeine and an apnea monitor while one of my friends went home on oxygen so neither of those things should hold you back.

I had remebered a bulletin up in the hospital 1-800-baby-law and I called it. Someone was suppose to get back with me and never did. I contacted the head of risk mgmt. dept. at the hospital to tell her I was willing to talk about it with them and we could negotiate something without lawyers getting involved. I told her i needed psyc. counseling. She kept putting it off (trying to by time because of the statute) finally I gave a date to get with my husband and I or we'd seek council. She finally met with us and said they investigated and were not out of saftey guidelines. She accused us of just "looking for a lawsuit" my husband lost it and flipped the table over and said this is my son that died in your care!!
Anyway..we live in a small town, Dr's eat luch with Lawyers and we hired 2 of them but couldn't get anything going. i think they were paid under the table to make us go away!
