JCPenny's crib? Or wooden cribs in general?

posted 22nd Apr
Has anyone purchased a crib from them?

My mother in law insisted that she be the one to purchase the crib... so my husband and I agreed to it, and she insisted that it come from JCPennys... Which I assumed to be super reputable, although i don't shop there personally.

Anyway, the crib came and it has all these tiny knicks all over it where the slats for the bars were put into place.
I am not a crib expert, but I really don't think they are supposed to be there... I haven't seen any other cribs like that before.... but I don't know.
We got the rockland cottage crib... its cherry wood....

So if anyone else has had this on their crib can you let me know? Is it supposed to be like that??

We just opened it to have a peek, and you can plainly see these knicks on it... If I had it here at my house at the moment I would go snap some photos... but
its still at my MIL's house.

I really want to say something about it to JCPenny's, because they sent it to her in the wrong color. I am not going to send it back because my MIL is so proud of it, but it is in Cherry when it was really supposed to be Espresso... But what can you do??? I like Cherry wood too, it wasn't my first choice, but it was a second, so I'm good with it I guess.
I just don't want it be the wrong color AND have 30-40 knicks all over it....
Its just to expensive to have it be knicked.

I got the same crib but in the coffee color...I haven't gotten it yet though b/c it is on back order. I hope I dont have any problems with it though. I guess I will really have to inspect it when it comes now that you mentioned it!

I'd ask for an exchange. I'm sure your MIL wouldn't mind-I'm sure she wants the best for baby too.
I had a JC Penneys crib and I looove it. No nicks on mine.

Why do older women insist on only shopping ay Penny's?
My MIL will only go to Penny's, she refuses to shop anywhere else except for there and the dollar store.

Meri: sorry about your crib. I am sure it is not supposed to have nicks in it. I would exchange, I think your MIL will understand.

I have a similar crib ..not for Jc pennys. id call and see if there was a way to exchange the crib maybe at a local store so you can make for sure it doesnt have knicks. They shouldnt have knicks no matter where their from.

My mom is a big Penney's fan too. I really don't like Penney's and she ALWAYS gets me a gify certificate there for Christmas and Birthdays. At least now I can spend it on Robbie instead of trying to find something I like there before the card expires, lol.

I would definitely exchange it. Tel you MIL you love it, but it looks like it may be damaged and you don't want her to have spent so much on damaged goods. Maybe that way you can get the correct color as well.

This thread is sorta along the same lines as a ? that I have ..
The crib that I'm looking at is of a nice quality and is all sorts of safety certified ..which is good but..I have one slight qualm about it..It is made of pine wood which I know is soft..Am I going to regret getting it when baby starts teething....and otherwise banging around on her own..??????????

I hadn't thought of the teething thing....

Oh, and I will be calling JCPenny's myself to find out what the hell I can do about the crib they sent, and hopefully I'll get it in the right color too...

Whats interesting is that a friend of mine ordered her crib through JCPenny's and paid extra to have it delivered to her home, etc...
Once it was there, she took it out of the box only to discover that there were several blemishes and a crack in the headboard.
She called JCPenny's and they argued with her about whose fault it was! She told them that she wanted a new crib sent no later than the next day, and that she expected it to be delivered, and the other one picked up and returned by the delivery truck.
In the end, she got her way, but not without a cuss and holler fight.
I'm really hoping that this is not how it goes down for me and JCPenny's...

hahaha! thats not hard!
I was having a looooong arguement with dish network (who was dicking me royally by continuing to put off fixing my internet for damn near 2 weeks) when they finally DID send a tech out, it was a guy who only knew how to work on my TV!
I told him to get someone on the phone RIGHT THEN to get my internet fixed THAT DAY.... he sadly made the mistake of saying "Its not going to happen today. Sorry."
ooooh.... Wrong words to me... I told him,
"GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE RIGHT NOW OR THIS PREGNANT, ANGRY, 250 LBS PISSED OFF TATTOOED WOMAN IS GOING TO KICK YOUR ASS BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY! I"M SICK OF GETTING SCREWED, AND YOU ARE THE DUMB ASS THEY SENT TO FACE MY WRATH, SO I SUGGEST YOU GET SOMONE TO ME RIGHT NOW IF YOU DON"T WANT TO BE BACKED INTO A CORNER FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS! A SMART SCAPE GOAT WOULD PASS THE BUCK RIGHT FAST MISTER!"

heh...
I hate getting screwed with...
What I loved was the call that followed
"Man, I've got a crazy one here... she reallllly needs her internet fixed. If its not fixed, she's not letting me out of her house. Please get someone over here."

Now I am trying to picture that scenario with a pleasant woman from JCPenny...
I bet I could make her cry.

Ha ha ha
I love using the fright factor when you need to !! It's great that the tech was scared of you after you tore him a new one..but come on ..as much as you pay for the service then it had better work right darn it!!
I learned my angry bitch technique from my mother ..she's a surly irish/ scottish lady w/ natural red hair..oh boy now that is a temper !! She has taught me well for such occasions

i know, nearly $400 down the drain on it, it better not be knicked.
