6w4d pregnant no visible fetal pole

posted 22nd Apr '08
Hi, I am new here. I am 6w4d pregnant, determined by my last vaginal u/s. On my last u/s they saw a gestational sac and yolk sac but no fetal pole. They said this was very discouraging, but are having me go back in a week to see if anything has developed. I am very worried as I have had two previous miscarriages. I have had no cramping or bleeding and good pregnancy symptoms. Anyone have something like this happen and seen a fetal pole a week later? Thanks for listening, I am trying to stay positive, but am a little pessimistic given my history of miscarriages. BTW, have had two healthy babies in between my miscarriages.

I went to hospital at about 4+ weeks, the nurse did a urine test that was negative and internal examination and said it looked like I wasn't pregnant. I couldnt do a scan for a couple of days later and there was still no baby. Then he did an internal ultrasound and said there was a gestational sac. We cried cos we were getting told by everyone I wasn't pregnant.Im 35 weeks now and all is ok. I know how you feel, waiting is horrible.Do you feel like you are pregnant? Sore breasts or nausea?

Don't worry yet! I had the same thing happen to me. I went in at just over 6 weeks and could only see the gestational sac:
from my album: Pregnancyultrasound 6+1 weeksadd comment

I was freaking out because everything I had read said we should be seeing a heartbeat already! I went in 2 weeks later to check again and saw a little babay with movement and a good heartbeat!
from my album: Pregnancyultrasound 8+2 weeksadd comment

Now he's a healthy almost 5 month old!

I know how hard it is not to worry, especially if you've already had a miscarriage (I had 3). Just take it one day at a time and as long as you're not bleeding and pregnancy symptoms are still there, I would assume everything is ok!
Good luck and hope you see a nice strong heartbeat at your next appointment!!!

Congrats. Sometimes 6 weeks is to early to see anything, which is one reason why some OB's wait until after 10 weeks to see you for the first time.
