is it normal

my baby is supposed to be finishing 2 ounces (60ml's) every 3 hours and he usually doesn't finish that much but for his last 2 feedings he did & i gave him a bath after i fed him last time. i just woke him to feed him again and he barely took an ounce and just wants to sleep....should it beokay if i let him sleep and wake him in another 3 hours to eat? i just want him to stay on schedule......

my son is 2 months...and my pedi told me to let him sleep when he wants and eat when he wants.
so id let him sleep.

hes only a week old..... they have him on a schedule at the hospital to eat every 3 hours and thats been working out so i kept doing that. i dont see why he should be forced to eat 2 ounces if he just doesnt want it.

yea they did that with my son as well. and at 5 days he had a check up and he was up to 8 pounds(he was 7 12 at birth) i would make him eat every three hrs...thats when my pedi told me i didnt have to anymore.

im sure hel let you know when hes hunrgy! lol

they fed my baby 2 oz every 4 hours and when i took him home he ate evry 3 now he eats 5 oz every 3 hrs and you shouldnt wake him he will let you know when hes hiungry girl trust me LOL

my son is 7 weeks and only takes 2-5 ounces every 2-6 hrs.
thats good tho..im worried my son isnt eating enough sometimes.

how much did they say he needed to eat? my son is 7lbs 4oz but i think he just doesnt wanna eat that much...... he eats between an ounce & half and 2 ounces every feeding even when i burp him and everything but i dont wanna force him to eat and make him sick to his stomach or something

she said half there weight is what you should offer...so id round up and make 4 oz bottles.
and if its a shorter amount of time between feedings like 2-3 ounces....depends on how long.
i offer my son 5 ozs (he about 10 pounds prolly) sometimes he eats 2 oz...sometimes 5 and wants another ounce. every 2-6 hrs.....6 hrs being mostly at night.

I don't believe in schedules...babies will eat when they are hungry. Unless you are hitting 4-5 hours of straight sleep...why wake them?

When my son left the hospital he was also drinking 2oz and eating every 3 hours. My pediatrician and the doctors told me not to let him go past 4 hours of eating, because he is a preemie and with everything they have gone through sometimes all they want to do is sleep so sometimes they need to be woken up because their body needs that nourishment. I followed that for about 2 -3 weeks now he is on his own scheduled and wakes up and eats when he wants to.

That's exactly what my doctor said. Luckily Paige came home from the hospital loving her bottles and I've only had to wake her a few time to eat!

My best advice is let him sleep if he wants to sleep. Take full advantage of it. He should wake up when he is hungry. With that being said, I wouldn't let him go more than 5-6 hours in between feedings to make sure he's getting the nutrients he needs.

my son didnt stay on schedule. I feed him as needed but thats me. i dont think its bad as long as hes gaining weight...right?? im not too sure but thats my opinion.
