My cat just made me have a break down!!

Ok, First off, i love this cat, he will be 1 4 days after my son turns 2, and ive had him since he was 4 weeks old. . . well i had him and his brother. . . I found his brother a new home because 2 male cats under one roof was too much od a pee war for me. . . .

Now that Malachite(his brother) is with his new family he has stopped peeing, pooing and sprayign, only uses his box and is very loving again. . .

But Topaz is driving me insane, I clean up cat pee every day, i find it VERY hard to be nice to him and find it even harder to keep myself from beating him senseless. .. I kennel him when he does this, it used to work, and he stopped going outside hte box for a while but then the past few days i just cant take it anymore. . . . My son got behind the sofa, so i pulled it out to get him and he was playing in cat pee. . . i dont know what to do, i literally fell to the floor and started crying, i cant control myself right now, i keep crying and im panicking, and i feel like im going to throw up because im so upset. . . .

Before I was pregnant i would just throw him in his kennel, call him a few choice words, and leave him there for 8 hours (im too fed up with him to let him out, my hubby has to let him out, i cant stand to have him in my sight!!!)

I am sitting here having an panic attack and flipping out, i got my son cleaned off and i just dont know what to do. . .

I live in a military town and no one wants a cat, they all want dogs, and the pounds and shelters, and everywhere is full. . . I dont want to end up hurting him, because with how im breakign down right now, if my mood were to have swung to anger instead i may have killed him. . . I just dont know. . .

I'm tempted to put him outside and just forget hes there. . . let someone else pick him up. . . but then what if he gets into a yard with a dog, or what if he gets hit by a car, hes neverbeen outside before. . . well hes been out 3 maybe 4 times, on a leash, and it was to stretch his legs while we were on our road trip to oklahoma. . . .

I just cant take it anymore!!! I ant get all the smell out of the house because as i clean it up hes peeing and pooing more, and he wont stop until i get all the smell out, and i cant tell whats his or his brothers, whats new whats old, where it is anything. . .

I think karma may bite me just for thinking such bad thoughts and for not wanting him anymore when i chose to save him and his brothers lives. . . I am just so stressed.. . . and i need to scream!!

All this mess i have to clean up isnt healthy for anyone in my house, especially not my son or the baby im carrying!!

Can I stop crying now??

i think ima wake hubby up a few minutes eary and tell him i needa hug!!

Yes i did refill his bowl, and made sure he has food and water in there for his stay. . .

btu i cant take much more of this, i am not a violent person at all, ask anyone that knows me, i avoid confrontation, everything, but this cat is making the worst in me come out. . . and its really difficult because i rescued him and his brother and i feel bad that i am feeling this, but i also feel that its not right that he is doing this, i cant handle it anymore, i finally broke down and just starte d cryign and i cant stop crying, i am jsut so stressed out, i mean its just some pee and probably poo, and he probably sprayed the sofa again . . . but its jsut hte wooden frame now, since he ruined the cushions and the futon cushion i put on it to replace the cushions he ruined. . .. .

hubby cleans his box every other day and theres poo in it, but grrr. . . .

h eneeds to stop, cat urine makes my throat seal off, and i have been so sick lately, and i dunno, i think it has just finally gotten to the point of either him avoiding me or me just continuing the crying. . . . grrr, i dunno

cats hate orange zest anywhere he pees or poos put down orange zest it could be that he is going back there simply out of habit one of my cats was the same luckily he went somewhere my son couldn't get.

Okay calm down, obviously the cat doesn't like his enviroment and you don't like him, so take the damn cat out for a drive in the country(little traffic) and he will survive cause its animal instinct. The alternative is you having a break down or killing-maiming this animal so drop off with no guilt. If you feel really bad leave a little note in his collar with ten bucks for food.

oh and please be very carefull when cleaning up cat poo its very dangerous for the bubba and you at this point i know it sounds a bit extreme but it might be worth getting a mask and rubber gloves just to be on the safe side

I know its dangerous we had a scare with my son, the docs thought i had contracted toxoplasmosis (sp?). . . .

right now my son is in his chair with some cheese (yes i cleaned him first, just to reiterate) and im going to pretend that the mess isnt there for a bit until i calm down. .. . because im am at my breaking point!

PLEASE don't just let him out in the country somewhere!  That is so incredibly sad and in my opinion, an inhumane thing to do to a pet. I don't know how this could be done "guilt free". And I highly doubt that the wild animals in the country will care that he has $10 for food attatched to him before they mame and eat him.

Is he fixed? I know that may not solve the pooing and peeing problems, but it might help with the spraying. Have you talked to the shelters in the area? They may have some suggestions on how to stop his bad habits. If you did have to leave him at a shelter as a last resort, most of them these days are no kill, so even if he doesn't get adopted right away, he'd still be safe. If the shelters are full, like you say they are, maybe they have some other options or he could be put on a waiting list?

I cant just drop him off, im in cetral texas, the snakes would get him, and thats if he was lucky. . .. .

Because of my health issues, us having a (soon to be)2 yr old, a baby on the way, and hubby needing new uniforms for work, we dont have the money to get him fixed. . . . .

Actually there is only 1 ni kill shelter in the area, and all the animals there are VERY sick, and they are full. ... all the shelters are full, a lot of solders just deployed to iraq not too long ago and they all dumped off their pets. . .. so there isnt room, this happens a couple times a year. . . .

I jsut feel bad for him because i did save him and his brothers lives, long story. . . . he is 1/4 lynx so that just makes it harder to find him a home, especially with everyone here wanting dogs not cats. .. .

I need to do something!! I feel much better since i calmed down a bit and ate something. . . .

I really love him, but i seriously cant keep him. . . . I mean, if he went to a home with no cat war smell then he would be fine, just like his brother. . . but the problem is finding him a home. . . .

On top of that, he is slow, literally. . . . You cant tell by looking at him, but he was stillborn, and it took the lady 3 minutes to revive him. . . . so he is slow, he is a very sweet cat, but with the circumstances i can no longer take it any longer!!

It all just makes me feel even worse about everything thats going on. . .

Have you actually checked with the shelters, or are you just assuming they're full? Maybe just give them a call and see what advice they have. Have you asked the person who took his brother in if they'd be willing to take this cat too?

You could contact vets in the area. Some offer low cost spay/ neutering. If not, they might have some suggestions. They are professionals and they'll have some advice!

I don't mean to sound rude, but part of being a responsible pet owner is taking care of your animal. To me this means trying EVERY avenue before giving him away. There are resources in your area, it just may take some time and effort on your part.

believe me, i know this, and i have looked into it. . . . the shelters ARE over crowded, they are taking no more!! because they are euthanizing as they bring in strays that are caught (some soldiers just let their pets loose before leaving too)

The vet said that the surgery itself would cost 100, not counting anestesia (i cant spell that word!!) or pain meds, or follow ups or anythign else. . .

after all that, and the exam ahead of time, even tho he was just at the vet no too long ago to see if he had a uti and maybe that was why he was going outside his box. . not that easy, hes healthy as a horse! They told me that everythign in total would be close to $300, but if i paid $250 now then i could get on the kitten plan and get his shots, get him fixed, and get a check up. .. yeah, well he has all his shots, was just at the vet and got a check up, and i still dont have 250 for the gettign him fixed. .. or the extra money to buy the pain meds or anything else he may need, like if it gets infected. .. .

I grew up with cats, I love cats, i love animals in general, i know my responsibilities, and he is part of my family, i have searched and worn out my options. . . The people that have his brother dont want him, because he is 'slow'

I am going to go back up to petspart today or tomorrow and put up most notes letting people know hes looking for a home. . . .

i just am torn, this ios a hard decision, but everythign happening is hard to deal with too!!

omg thats a rediculas price over here it costs £25 for the whole lot thats about $50 to you

do you have a SPCA or something similar?.If so you can get FREE spay/neuter based on your income.If you were to go that road then while he is out getting fixed scrub every inch and get that smell out!. Otherwise put an add in your local craigslist.

I dont think we have one in this area, or atleast theres not one in the phone book, i have called every place. . . . oh and btw, no vet will take him, i called a couple emergency and they let me know that vets in this area dont do that . . . .
I will however be calling a few more vert in about 30 mins, its only 930 here. . .

right now hes in his kennel, i tried to get some rest, but im getting sick again. . . . i hate my epilepsy!!

I also have to call my ob today because im getting random nose bleeds now and tasting and smelling chemical, and keeps having dizzy spells, i think the stress is bothering my body, i am weak to stress, at times that is. . . .

anyways back to the subject at hand. . . . i went back and was going ot let him out of his kennel and he sprayed me AGAIN!!

He is going ot stay there until hubby gets off work!! I was going ot be nice and let him out and just leave the situation be for the time being, but no, he had to spray me. . . . why he likes to spray me i dunno, i think he hates the fact im pregnant!

im thinking about putting him on the patio, on his leash, (we have ametal pole in the middle of our patio for some unknown reason and if hes on his leash he cant get caught on anything) and put up a baby gate so out patio is blocked off so he can have outside time and away from me time. . . .

but last time i did it thebirds freaked him out. . . i am so stressed!!

anyways, my mom sys that if i can keep him until june or july then when i get up to oklahoma again shell take him, shes got a huge yard and a hugs garage, and Topaz loves her dogs, go figure!

Come to think of it, when we got back from oklahoma, after they were with her dogs for a month, is abotu the time this all began. . . hmmm. . . . . I havent slept in FOREVER it feels, and i still cant go to bed, my son is STILL wide awake, and hes been up for over 24 hours!!!

and hte stupid pregnancy hormones are still making me cry when i think about the mess he made. . . grrr!!! am i going crazy??
