Good luck!I had my little at 33 weeks. I had to have a c section i would not thin out. GOOD LUCK AGAIN!!

Sorry to take so long to let everyone know how it went! The past few days have been very very busy.

We have been truely blessed and neither of us expected everything to go as well as it has so far. Our little girl is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and HEALTHY!!!

Merrianna arrive at 5:23p on April 24. Even though her gestational age was only 33 weeks 4 days - she was 17.5 inches long and weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce! No complications or anything... she has been on"room air" the entire time since she was born.The nurses noticed that after a feeding, Merrianna wouldn't maintain her body temperature as well as she should, so they put her into an incubator to lessen her stress levels. Also, a small amount of jaundice developed so they turned on the lights for her and it clerared up two days later.

The c-section Tuesday went well. They sent me home on Friday and I have been able to go visit Merrianna in the NICU twice a day every day. We've started nurding and I'm pumping milk at home for them to give her in her feedings while I'm not there. Even when I am there for nursing, we only nurse for a few minutes and then we give her a bottle.

Tuesday she weighed 5 pounds 1 ounce.Thursday she was 4 pounds 12 ounces, Friday she was 4 pounds 11.5 ounces. Today (Sunday) she is "a little above" 4 pounds 12 ounces, so she is already gaining weight!

Her only "issue" was with the IVs that they used to give her fluids (and sugars and lipids). Merrianna is a "hard stick" and her IVs only lasted about a day before theygot puffy. Because she was keeping down all of her food (she has not spit up even once yet!) and her weight had leveled off, they discontinued the IVs and upped the amount she was receiving in her bottle-feedings and she has done absolutely fantastic!

I just went in to the hospital Friday April 18, 2008 for high blood pressure and headaches along with cramps. They did a 12 hour urine and it came back that I had 312 mg of protein in it. The max they let it go is 300 mg. So they gave me steroid shots for 2 days and then did another 12 hour urine to see if the protein went down. The protein doubled over those 2 days and they had to dilute my urine just to get a reading. I was 26 weeks and 2 days when I delivered my baby boy on April 21, 2008. He was 1 lb and 1 oz and 10 1/2 in long. They won't let me hold him yet but I can touch him if I don't rub him. He is doing sooo well tho. They had him on a ventilator the first day to breathe for him and took it off the second day. They replaced it with a C Pap which basically puts pressure on his nose with oxygen to help him breathe. He stayed on that for about 4 days and they took that off and put just some clear lil oxygen tubes in his nose and he is breathing on his own now with those tubes. He doesn't have all the IVs on him that he had the first day anymore. He is only 6 1/2 days old. I am so proud. Hang in there girl, it's hard when your baby has to stay in the NICU. It's gonna be hard to go home without her. I hope everything goes well with your delivery and your baby's health! Good Luck! I'll pray for you and your baby!

Congratulations, we had our baby boy via c-section Friday at 10:03 pm 5 weeks early, he is 4 lbs 11 oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Required no oxygen without the steroid shot, but will be in NICU for a couple more days then should be coming home, Amy had a blood pressure episode last night and it shot to 185/115 she had to be pumped with meds and sedated due to panicking. Have you had any blood pressure issues post partum? I'll post some pics of our baby boy here soon   He is doing excellent, just a little tiny.
