1 normal name?

posted 20th Apr
Before my husband and I even got married, we picked out names for our children-to-be. We selected one girls name, and one boys name.

Boy: Noah Tobias Pinck (my husband's last name, I kept my last name)
Girl: Aoede Cadence Pinck

I still like the boy name. I kind of wonder if I should give the girl name a "normal" middle name, so if she decides she hates aoede she can switch to her middle name and use that instead. Cadence could turn into cade (katie), except my niece is already Katherine, Katie for short.

Aoede is "ah-oh-dee" for pronunciation.

What do you guys think? Keep it, or switch it? My other choices would be claire or jessica for the middle names.

i think people will have a hard figuring out how to say her name you had to help us out and that should be your first clue it's not a good pick.

clair is cute and simple.

there are plenty of easy to pronounce names that are not too common.

if it helps, we named our daughter Piper Sage.
we thought it was uncommon enough she wouldn't be in a school full of girls w/her name but, it was cute and most importantly it ages well.

good luck

I would suspect that people would be pronouncing her first name wrong...and you have to think of all the names that they can put with it..like with Aydin we had Gatoraide....Aydin the mayden! you have to think like a kid....

Aeode sounds like Coyote...not to be rude or anything.

Hah, well! Definitely a lot of things I hadn't thought of. I heard the name pronounced before I ever saw it written, so the pronunciation thing never really occured to me.

I was just talking to my sister, and we told her then name probably about 8 months ago, and she has apparently thought this whole time it was basically an oddly-spelled version of coyote as well   Perhaps this may need to be adjusted.

I REALLY like Cadence, though. Maybe just switching it around would be the best bet. Although the person who mentioned Sage as a name (not to steal it, of course!) is actually one I also really like.

Hubby will be mad- aoede was his pick, and cadence was mine

Thanks for the insight, I really appreciate it. Better than family who are all like "ohh, that's lovely" but with that vageully confused expression they always get.

i love the name Sage. I'm not the first person to use it and I won't bethe last. I like it alot better than the name you'vepicked. I'm not one for Cadence of any spellingBUT,Cadence Sage might be a good idea.

Good luck!
