Not feeling her move much.

Im 23 weeks pregnant, and I havent felt her move in the past few days nearly as much as I usually do. Only once or twice every couple of hours. Is this normal? Im trying not to freak out because this is my first pregnancy, and Im one of those people who worry and freak over nothing. I've tried calling my O/B, but shes on vacation until the 21st. Can someone please help me?

Does your doc have an on call doc while she's on vaca? Or even a nurse practitioner? They have to have someone you can talk to! That happened to me and my doc was on vacation too, but I was 38weeks and it was 10pm. Follow your intuition, your gut feeling. When I spoke to my doc's on call doc, she treated me like I was overreacting, but my gut told me otherwise, so I basically told her I was coming in and to be ready for me.

If she does have an on call doctor or something, they didnt tell me. But my gut is telling me that she's just sleeping or being lazy. I mean, Im not spotting or having any cramping or anything, but I did go into preterm a couple of weeks ago. But she is moving, just not nearly as much, and like I said, its freaking me out. Usually Im getting beat up constantly from the inside, but shes not doing that since Tuesday. My fiance says shes just sleeping and not to worry too much. Im considering going out to the ER and having them check her out. Do you think thatd be a wasted trip?

What the doc told me to do was drink something sweet (like pineapple juice), lay on my left side for an hr and count the kicks and/or movements. If there are more than 10 in that hour, then you are ok. Honestly, I think anything that would reassure you wouldn't be a wasted trip. It's really what you feel would be best, docs should be there to reassure us. With me, I barely counted 10 and I just felt like something was wrong, so I went in.

When I was pregnant my baby did that for a few days too, would scare the crap outta me. But she was perfectly fine she just didn't feel like moving around as much those days I guesss...

if you ask yourself "is this normal?" instead of taking the advice of strangers w/ no degree in medicine, it's probably better to call your dr.

there have been plenty of times women have asked that, gotten an answer here and ended up having a miscarriage or the baby died etc. Chances are, you're fine, but we are not the people you need to be asking.
