Broncitus

Does anyone know about a baby having this cause my son who is 3 months old has it and its been about a week and he doesnt seem to be getting better. Now i have no clue cause i have never had this should he be better by now? I think im going to take him back to the er in a little while but i was just wondering and i posted this here cause he was 5 weeks early and had some problems with his lung.

What symptoms is he still having? The actual inflamation goes relatively quickly, but the cough can last for weeks. If its just the cough remaining then that is normal. Because he was a preemie their immune systems can be abit weak and it can take longer to get over these things. Does he still have fever, tiredness, mucus, breathlessness etc?? Sometimes another infection can develop in the bronchi.

Yes he has a little bit of a fever and he is really like not moving around a whole lot jsut a little lethargic. He has been coughing so hard his little face turns all red and he has been coking on his food and throwing up. He was with my MIL yesterday and she said he coked/coughed so hard he couldnt catch his breath they had to blow in his face.

I think you should definately get him seen. Maybe he needs more meds to get the inflamation down and some type of cough meds so it helps with his breathing. If the mucus is not creamy/normal coloured then it means he has another infection, that can complicate things and make it harder to recover. Does he have reflux? They told me DS was getting the bronchitus from reflux! he had alot of mucus and they suctioned his lungs, poor fella it was awful, but it really helped. Once the lungs are suctioned clean and the inflammation goes down, it goes away alot quicker. The tiredness is just from their lil bodies trying to fight it, but it can also be a sign of serious infection in there - so he really needs to see a doc! I hopehe gets better soon

Yeah i think i will take him in cause i worry about him with the problem he had with his lung and my BIL was in the hospital when i was like 6 months prego and he had to have that done. It was gross but he was so much better after that. ANd we cant really tell what color the mucus is cause its usally the color of his formula

My nephew got broncitis and was put on a defibulator (sp) its been about a couple months, he still has a slight cough but hes better........ I think it just takes time for the cough to go away, even if they are better already..........
