Like previous post said.
"I.appreciate your concern, this is what works for my family."
Or
"Her pediatrician said not to start until at least 6 months."
Or
"I woukd appreciate it if this is a topic we do not discuss."

try to limit your contact with her.
you can't keep her from saying things or from getting offended. that's her problem.

Hi   I'd like to join this thread. Guess I should start with an introduction
I'm hazyl and my baby is Aura 5.5months. I'm planning to avoid solids until at least 6months and do the BLW thing. Problem is my nurse is pushing solids on me or the last few weeks, saying that it will help aura gain weight (she's just a wee dot) and my mum thinks she's showing signs of being hungry, it's so annoying! I haven't delayed solids before or done blw so this is all new to me. Aura is formula fed and has 3-4 bottles of 200mls a day and sleeps 12-14 hours at night and is a great day sleeper too, so I doubt she's starving for food yet!

First question I have lol, being formula Fed, is it still ok to delay solids, or is it more of a breastfeeding thing? Naturally I want her to have all her vitamins and stuff but I wouldn't have a clue if stage 2 formula (6mo+ goat formula) will have everything she needs since most babies are eating at that stage.

We had this same MIL issue only it was about my LO's penis and us not choosing circumcision. Now I know these are too different topics but I think you can handle them the same way. Hopefully this will not offend her.

So this is what we did after she told us about her concerns a few times. We said thank you for your concern but this is what we are choosing to do for our Son. Then we told her "What you are talking about is an outdated way of thinking"( IMO this is true about both topics) With the new research that has been done Drs no longer recommend this.

So thank you for being so worried for us and the health of our LO but we did not make this decision with out talking to our pediatrician and doing our own research. So please don't be worried any more.

Then if she brings it up again, you say I already told you how we feel about this so I would not like to waist the time we have to talk on this subject. How have you been?

good! DH went a little overboard letting Leo (almost 9m) try his apple tonight and Leo puked it all up. I made DH clean it up and then shower him. *sigh* This is what happens when I leave them alone for a few minutes.

Im going to work on the wards for 2 weeks starting Monday, and I wont get time to pump   Im worried my LO will not take food and kick up a fuss (ill be seperated from her 8-9 hours a day) and im worried ill get engorged, then my supply will diminish   I know its only for 2 weeks but I hope this is not the end of our breastfeeding journey

Hey Mamas, I would like to join this thread. My son will be 5 months on the 6th and we still have yet to feed him solids. He is EBF but mainly takes it from a bottle cuz he refuses to latch on unless he is really tired or asleep. I'm really hoping to delayolids until atleast 9 months. I'm looking for a lot of support cuz I have no one around me that does support me except for SO.

I know a lot of moms skip the purees and go straight to table foods. If I make my own baby food, do I need to skip purees?

People skip purée as a sole texture because they teach kids they don't need to chew before they swallow, which can cause choking when new textures are introduced that do need to be chewed.
If you want to, you could do some purées and finger foods, but there's really no need to purée foods that you wouldn't usually purée.

if you want to skip the purees and do "baby-led weaning", then you don't really need to make your own baby food even. you just give them the food in whatever condition it normally comes in or whatever condition you normally eat it in.
