aw don't feel bad mama. that's not the idea. any breastmilk is still great! and even if you have to completely FF, it's still all good info to know and be aware of. =D it doesn't apply JUST to EBF babies, although you do have to adjust for a few things if you FF.

I wish I could ebf. My supply is low but I'm glad you posted this. Too many people give food too early. I looked up "readiness" signs and they are crape to me. I think I'll wait after 6 months anyway. Plus it's easier lol I don't want to upset my lo tummy

Don't feel bad! Remember some breast milk is better than no breast milk!

Thanks. I've tried everything, its only increased from 1 oz to 2 oz per feeding/pumping session. I've just accepted it now. I'm still trying though.

that's a very good amount to be getting out actually!

I was thinking the same thing! Especially with the pump! I have a great supply, and can still only pump 1-2 OZ... Babies are much more effective than the pump.

Hey I'm curious about delayed solids and allergies. Most of the information I have read says that waiting 12 months can be beneficial. My daughter is at risk for allergies from both sides of her family. I was just wondering if anyone did wait how did your baby turn out?

we waited until 12m and my son has no allergies. Allergies don't run in our family either, but he's also only been sick twice in his life (he just turned 2). If your child is breastfed, then waiting until 12m (or longer) allows them to get the maximum benefits from the breastmilk.

Yeah I know once you stop breastfeeding they lose a lot of the immunities. My mom was allergic to everything to the point that the doctors threw up their hands and said "shes gotta eat something". So I'd really like to do as much as I can to not have that happen to my daughter. I wasn't breastfed at all and I have a ton of allergies.

I`m happy to see this post. I want to delay solids and EBF until DD is over 6 months old but I`ve been getting a lot of pressure from both sides of the family to start giving her rice cereal to sleep better. She already sleeps for a 6 - 7 hour stretch!! My close cousin has a 5 month old and has already been giving her cereal, solids, juice, etc. so everybody keeps pushing me to do the same. I`m sticking to my mommy sense and going to delay solids!

good for you for sticking to your guns mama. You are really doing what is best for her and giving her so many benefits. a 6-7 hour stretch is awesome! My 2 yr old doesn't even sleep that long of a stretch! haha I feel sorry for your cousin's baby, especially about the juice. =(
