Are you afraid of choking? You really don't have to give cereal even if you were going to make your own baby food. But blw to me personally just makes sense...its how babies have started eating food forever....we've only had baby food since what the 40's?

Just offer soft slices of food....big enough that they can't choke on the whole slice but soft enough that they can swallow the bite whole if needed...he will chew tho even if he has no teeth the gums are hard!

Avacado slices, a half of a banana, baked apple slices , yellow pear slices, steamed carrot sticks, and baked sweet potato slices are what we started with...he hated steamed squash

Not afraid of choking at all.

I thought to do BLW its best to start later like 8 months.

WIC gave me baby food and cereal coupons, I just said yes without thinking.

Nah you can start at 6 months...my son just wasn't ready until 8-9 months. Every baby is different :].

So does that mean you have to use the coupons or you will get in trouble with WIC like they might drop you I mean

Im not sure what to do about WIC.

Im not sure if he is ready. Ill have to check out the ready signs again, but with the tongue thrust how can you tell if they still have it?

This might be a stupid question but with the pincer grasp he will grab things with his finger and thumb, is that the pincer grasp regardless if his other fingers are out or not.?

If they immediately push out any food they stick in their mouths

So you gotta give him food to test it.

My son started getting the pincers grasp once I started giving him pees and kale puffs...in the beginning (a month ago HA) he would just grab it with all his fingers and eat it like ....a corn dog? Kwim?

lol. Liam will grab with his finger and thumb but his other fingers will be extended, like not tucked into the palm if that makes sense.

Yep just put something non slippery yet soft in front of him...my son had to develop his grasp..at first I left part of the Peel on stuff so he could hold it...now he grabs it pretty well with no Peel....he loves to suck on peels to...never eats them just chews on them like gum and spits them out later
