What do you mean take back their birth?

I wanted a natural one, we tried for it...... but if it was not for the hospital where I was I could have lost my life and my sons life.

I would have had a home birth if there were midwives here. I ended up having a natural birth in a hospital.

I think she is meaning in general...
Too many women today opt for induction, epidural, and c-section because they are brainwashed to believe childbirth is a scary, horrible experience.
To each their own, but I'd much rather experience birth as nature intended it and bond with my child that much more knowing we made it through the experience together (obviously if medical intervention can be avoided).
It is a wonderful thing that medicine also allows for people in your situation to have a birthing experience that ends with both parties alive in the face of adverse circumstances

Yeah I guess I should have added in there that home birth isnt for everyone. High risk women shouldnt do it.

We were not high risk, I had no complications during pregnancy. It all came at labor. So if I were to stay at home there is no way my son or myself would be here. Do not get me wrong, I love the idea of home birth, we wanted 100% natural water which was in my birth plan... but I would not take back my birth now at all.

Yep. I bawled!

I had to have a csection with my first because he was breached. My hospital didn't have a 24hour anesth...(sp?) so i was told that i had to have a second csec. Now i want a 3rd baby just so i can have the joys of doing it natural. I don't know if that will ever happen (having a 3rd.. it's already hard having 2 children now)

just because someone decided to be medicated and NOT have a water/ non drugged birth, doesn't mean they are NOT empowered and do not OWN their birth. great assumption.

In general terms, the harder you have to work for something, the more you appreciate it. Take that as you will, no rude intentions, but it's just human nature.

**This is not to say medicated mother's don't appreciate their children so don't take it that way.

No, you wouldn't be able to guage it, I'm just saying in GENERAL when a human has to work harder for something they appreciate it more.
The US is a country of people looking for an easy out. Childbirth, food, work, etc.
I am not saying one is better or worse than the other, to each their own, but if someone hands you a $100 as opposed to you having to slave away for 10 hours for that $100, who's going to appreciate that $100 more?
In the end you get your baby, most mother's will love and nuture their child and in both cases there is always going to be someone who ends up with PPD or is a psycho and murders their kid. I don't know the statistics and this wasn't meant to attack or bash mother's who chose epidural or other medical interventions. You took what I said and twisted it like an smurf. Thank you.

I read it the same way she did, actually. I had a hellacious labor with my daughter and ended up getting an epidural at 8 cm. I love her more than life itself. Also, if I hadn't been in the hospital when I had her, she would not be here today. I wouldn't trade being in the hospital or having an epidural. Different strokes for different folks.
