TTC 2 years after Abortion

SO and I have been TTC since december but nothing has happened. We had an abortion 2 years ago because at the time we were both addicts and had a 1 year old. It wasn't the right time, infact it came as a surprise. Ever since then my AF have only lasted 2 to 3 days and are LIGHT i mean its barely there. It just hurts to know that during a stupid part of my life may have ended us ever having a child again. We have stopped trying at the moment but I hope to start towards fall. Anyone else have this happening? I really need some advice or something. Right now AF is 2 days late but I have been in so much pain the last 2 weeks and SO and I haven't had sex since a couple days after my last AF which was Feb 3rd.

It takes a totally normal healthy couple with NO problems at all up to a year to conceive. You've only been trying a couple months. Try not to freak yourself out. You just need to give it time.

It's really unlikely that the abortion caused any fertility issues. Most fertility specialists encourage you to try for at least a year before they will start trying to identify a problem. It can take a few months even if you and your SO are in perfect health.

Yeah you guys are right. Our first born was a still born at 32 weeks and after my first real cycle after we got pregnant with my second son. I called my doc to make an appointment for this pain and they started freaking out on me saying that as soon as pain started i should have called. well thats all fine and dandy but im the kind of momma to take a motrin and get on with it. there are alot of problems related to plumbing in my family. Its weird but all the women have had their uterus' taken out by the age of 28. Just alot of worrying. thanks!!!

Well its understandable you'd worry. Just try to remember that can actually make it harder to get pregnant. Good luck!

I don't think you have anything to worry about. It took my husband and I 8 months to finally conceive when we officially began trying. Also, my friend's periods are never normal, so she never knew when she was ovulating. After a few months of trying, she conceived. Although your period isn't heavy or last 5 days, does not mean you can't conceive. Just keep trying and don't worry.   I hope everything works out for you.

Try not to stress (I know its hard). But I doubt your previous abortion caused you to be infertile. It sometimes just takes a while, especially when you're trying. I was convinced that I was infertile after my ex gave me chlamydia...it took my hubby and I 6 months to finally get pregnant. And for some couples it can take 1-2 years. Good luck! And it really does happen when you stop trying lol.
