yeeeppp. lol Thats an army hospital for ya, and they told me that I might not even be able to get induced when they have me down if someone comes in that is actually in labor they can take my spot. or some crazy mess like that. so I have to call at 8am to be told what time to be there and then I have to go STRAIGHT there so no one can take my place.... how nuts?

I saw ya'll are stationed on fort hood... are you going to Darnell?? (however its spelled)

My childbirth teacher years ago told me not even to put a sign on the hospital room door cause that is where alot of the baby snatchers go to take the babies. In my hospital you cant even give the baby to anyone who does not have a special colored badge on. Definately not a good idea.

At the hosptial I delivered at if anyone took the baby near the elevators or the stairs an alarm would go off b/c of the special band they put around their feet.

Yea I like the idea of the alarms my niece had one on her when she was born.

Yeah same here. They also went through a whole security thing where only me & my ex were allowed to take her to & from the nursery or out of the room. We had to check names tags of nurses before anything.

A little Yes, but I don't call being scared to announce birth of your child being a "little paranoid" I mean, one lady said she made sure that none of decorations could be seen from window, and at the hospital? That is just to MUCH, sorry!!

My hospital requires that I call 2 hours before my induction time to make sure there's room for me, since women in active labor and prioritized before inductions. Which I can understand. However, what sucks is my induction time is 5 AM and so I have to call at 3 AM, and they expect me to be able to go back to bed after that? C'mon!!!

As for the baby snatching from hospitals and what not, they put some watch battery type looking thing in the umbilical cord nub and if you try to take the baby past a certain point in the hospital, the entire hospital locks down, and all the security is dispatched there.

Also, me and the baby's dad are the only ones allowed in the nursery, which makes me happy.

As for yard signs...do what you're comfortable with!! I'm not doing one, just because we have no neighbors or anybodyin the neighborhood to announce her birth with.

Well - I was the lady who said about the decorations by the window AT HOME. Someone was killed about 3 blocks from my house while I was pregnant.......... I don't think its over paranoid.

OMG, how terrible, I am sorry about that, I didn't mean to be rude or anything, I couldn't remember who said it. I can understand that made you scared, if that happened close to me I would have been scared to. I didn't notice where you live, BUT here in TX I have a little security that is right next to my bed, called a 9mm, anyone comes nosing around my house will have it blown off. Sorry , I didn't mean to be rude or anything at all. But still you can't live in a cave scared all your life.
