ALLERGIC TO PROTEIN????

When my daughter was born, i Breastfed. my 3rd day in the hospital i was changing her diaper, and found blood mixed in with poop. i was very concerned, they ran tests on it and said they couldn't find anything wrong, so they sent me to a G.I specialist. they then found out she was Allergic to the Protein in my Breast Milk   i had to stop b.feeding her at a month old & switch to Similac Allimentium, because that formula breaks down the protein making it digestible for Babies allergic to Protein.

Has this happened to any of you ladies out there?!?!

i was so upset, i LOVED breastfeeding, it was easier than making a bottle, it didnt hurt. & it was a GREAT bond between the two of us <3

I didn't have a baby allergic to protein, but I had to stop breastfeeding my first child when she was 4mnths old because they said that I didn't have any protein in my breastmilk anymore, and thus I was starving her.

wow, thats crazy. sorry to hear that   the things that can happen are crazy..

Is she specifically allergic to your protein or the milk protein in general. My daughters had a milk protein allergy. U can breast feed if you get did of all the milk in your diet.

not sure exactly, i asked the doctors if i could still breastfeed and they told me no. my mother thought the same thing. its really confusing   but its to late now, i stopped bf at a month and shes 5 months now. i have no milk left

But the formula really does help. So at least she's feeling good

my baby's ped. told me to stop consuming all milk products and keep nursing
