How many people still watch...

posted 16th Apr
The same movies they use to with having their kids?

I grew up watching Nightmare on Elm Street and Return of the Living Dead and stuff like that. My dad said that was the one thing he didn't want to give up while I was growing up. Lol. And me being a single mommy and doing everything by myself, I kind of agree with my dad.

I'm curious as to how many other people still watch what they want, so that I don't feel like the only mother out there sitting on the couch watching Planet Terror with my daughter. Lol.

I watch what I want and listen to what I want. Let's face it, why censor ourselves? By the time they get to school, it will have been completely pointless. If they don't hear it from you or see it at home, they will be sure to in school.

We are more careful with what we watch around Gavin...just because he's to the point where he asks a ton of questions and we don't really feel like we're ready for the sex talk and all that.

Well, you have three options. You can either watch what you want, watch what they want or watch a combination of the two. I wouldn't suggest watching horro flicks with children who are old enough to be scared but young enough to not understand that it's just a movie but other than that I say, why not? If you watch kid stuff all the time, eventually you're going to start dreaming about Doodlebops, Teletubbies and Wiggles and that's more disturbing than any horror movie.

My mom watched whatever she wanted and ugh I am still trying to get over the nightmares I had from watching horror movies I dont even remember.

My kid will NOT be watching scary "adult" movies because I would hate for her to have the same problems I do.

Every child is diffrent, some wont have problems with "adult" movies (i am talking about mostly horror), others it will fuck up pretty badly. So I just wont be taking any chances.

i remember having dreams that O.J. Simpson was trying to kill me...later in life i asked my mom if she stayed in tune with the news about his trial and stuff and she said yeah.. so even things that you don't think will do harm can

We used to watch whatever we wanted...but not anymore. He is talking too much now, and we don't want him seeing stuff that he will remember later! LOL

See I completly agree with you. My daughter will hear worst things in school then she will in a movie. And on top of that there's too many other things to worry about when she grows up then her watching a rated "R" movie. And on top of it all I would rather have her watching a rated "R" scary movie then being 3 years old asking "Mommy what does Super Man That Ho mean"?

I remember I was in 5th grade standing in line for lunch and a boy asked me if I know what Masterbation was and I was like what are you talking about. and he went into full detail of every little thing, and I remember going home and telling my dad what this kid had told me and he was like I'm home schooling you. LOl

I live with my dad and 17 year old sister and Bad words fly out of my sisters mouth all day, no matter how many times I tell her not to say the "F" word she does.
So I'm just dreading the day she says it

I think ratings are there for a reason and I follow them. Honestly...there's so much out there in film that NO ONE should be watching...it just fills our heads with crap.

My step kids grew up at our house following ratings...at their mom's house it was a free for all. I can't tell you the amount of problems this has caused. From nightmares to early and unprotected sex. MY children will not be exposed to that stuff at an early age. I understand that they will see and hear things at school, but there is no reason why I should be the one pushing it into their heads now.

I watch whatever I want.
Of course my kids have their time to watch their own shows.
But I can't help flipping on flavor of love. (even with the language and sexuality)
It's kinda cute though when my little ones are yelling "FLAVOR FLAAAAV" around the house.

You can't seriously believe that TV is the real reason why teenagers have sex young.
I had sex young, and I know for a fact it wasn't TV that made me do it.
School was a big influence on my behavior because of the people I met.
But you can't keep your children on a leash, they will experience the things they will whether the parent likes it or not.

I watch all the same things still. Hunter barely pays attention these days. I don't believe in following "ratings" because say.. pg-13, if I watch it.. sometimes I find nothing wrong with that. But I don't want anything too sexual or too violant in front of him.

I don't think TV is what "causes" anything, but I'm not going to put things in their heads at home that aren't necessary. That's just my opinion though.

You don't have to put things into your child's head that isn't necessary, but the point is...
With or without the influence of TV, music, school, and other children, it is your child's CHOICE to do the things they do.
