This type of bleeding okay in late pregnancy?!?!

posted 14th Apr '08
i am 38 weeks pregnant, and have recently been having a lot of pelvic pressure and trouble urinating. I went to my Dr. today, and she stated that I was still 60% effaced and 2cm dialated, and that the baby's position is what is causing all of my pain/problems.She sent me home. It's been about 4 hours since my visit (she did a pelvic exam), and now I am bleeding red blood. It hasn't been a lot yet, but comes on my toilet paper after every wipe, and is in the toilet (no clots). It also looks like my cervix is "shedding" with the blood. Is that normal after a pelvic? I have had 3 internal exams since 35 weeks, and this is the first time I have bled! Is this considered "bloody show"....early labor?!?!?!

At my 38 week appt I was 90-100% effaced and 1cm dialted I had the same thing I started to bleed and I was told it was normal but I still had it the next day along with cramping. I ended up in the hospital that night I was having contractions every 2-3 mins apart and I was 2cm but wasnt dialating anymore so they sent me home. Well the next morning I woke up with really bad contractions timed them most of the day and ended up back in the hospital I was admitted and had my son the next day.

I don't think it's uncommon to bleed after an exam. If you don't mind me asking, is the blood sort of stringy? If so, it might be your show.

No , it's not "stringy". I think I lost my mucous plug about 4 days ago...my discharge was thicker than normal, and was brown in color. I don't mean to get personal, but if you wet toilet paper, it "sheds" apart in little pieces...that is what it looks like inside the blood.....

My bloody show wasnt stringy it was mucousy like kind of thicker discharge but the blood wasnt bright red it was lighter more like pinkish. If its bright red you might want to call you Dr. or L&D and see what they say to do.

usually if it's bright red it's from the placenta my friends sister had that happen to her when she was about 5 or 6 months she started bleeding one night and it was bright red the doctors said it was from the placenta but they sent her home and put her on bed rest and said she would b ok as long as she didn't exert herself and it should stop...but it's not uncommon to bleed after a exam as long as it's not clots i don't see y u wouldn't b ok

It has been 3 days since my exam, and I am still spotting dark brown blood. I am in no pain, and only have occasional Braxton Hicks. It takes about 3-4 wipes of toilet paper to clean up down there after I use the bathroom. Only a little has shown on my panty liners. I am seeing the Dr. tomorrow, but wanted to know if anyone has experienced this....so far, no baby :-(

I was finally checked to see if I had dialted yesterday, and I bled up until like 11pm last night. It started off red, then brown, then slimy brown,I had clots of red blood, and I finally lost my mucous plug during the wee hours of this morning. I had contracions off and on all last night and barly got any sleep, not to mention I;m at only 1cm.
