I HATE Target!!! Especially the Registry!!!!

posted 14th Apr '08
Target has made me sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo mad with their policies. Items we registered for and recieved they won't take back unless they are less than $20 if you don't have a reciept. Even when you could show them the registry with the item!!! They won't even let you exchange. How am I supposed to control if people give me the reciept or not?!?!?!? WTF!!!!

Plus you have to wait until after your due date passes before they will send you the 10% off coupon. Babies R Us already sent us ours with 1 month til the due date. I thought I was being convenient and helpful for those without kids to not have to find a baby store, since Target seemed so accomodating with so many varieties. But when you can't return a damn thing --- They are worthless.

Sorry I needed to vent!!! I received 3 bath tubs and 1 reciept!!! I made a mistake and realized that I wanted the wide mouth Playtex bottles and they won't let us exchange the starter set for the priceier wide mouth bottles. They are so unacommodating and irritating. What is the point of registering? The registry is worthless to help. If people don't give the list over and items don't get checked off you end up with 3 and how is that your fault!!!??? ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily a few other stores take returns without reciepts. But why should I have to research what other stores carry the same items, so I can return REGISTERED for items?!?!

I HATE TARGET!!!!

Anyone else have this problem?

I've heard this exact thing from other ladies on here. Sucks. Walmart is so good about returns and exchanges, I don't know why Target is so stupid. Hopefully you can find somewhere else that carries the same thing. Good luck

I haven't had any problems so far. I had to return a whole travel system without the receipt and they were perfectly fine about it. Maybe it's just the store you went to?

I hope it changes for you though...I'd hate them too if they pulled that on me.

This might sound terrible of me,but if I was you I could go somewhere with a more liberal return policy-like walmart-and exchange the bottle there. This is the second thread complaining about the Target registery I have seen in 2 days. I didn't register there because of the problems my sister had with her wedding registry late last year. She got 4 sets of dishes and no receipts,so I know what you are going thru. I don't understand how come they don't accept the return and just give a gift card-I think that is logical.

I've always disliked Target and mostly because I had the same problem about 10 years ago when I had my first child. I have found that Walmart is the best for returns, because no matter if you have a receipt or not they will at least take it back and give you a in-store credit on a merchandise card. I bet if you register and show the registry that they will even give cash back. The other thing I love was I was able to set my registry up online with out leaving my computer at home.

i hate target too.
i used to work there, and i wrote my schedule down wrong so i missed 2 days of work.
they didnt call me or anything.
so when i figured out i was missing my days i called them to ask why i didnt get a call.
and they fired me over the damn phone.
they told me they had to call a whole bunch of people to find someone who could take my shift.
i was like, why didnt you just call me. i didnt realise i work.
they said it wasnt there responsability to inform me that i missed work.
GOD, i realise that. but if your going to call half the people that work there to cover my shift, why not just call me?
ugh, i hate target.

Target's return poliy is really strict. It sucks. And a lot of people have a hard time with the registry. For mine, nothing was marked off but I got almost everything. Thankfully Target was just my back up so there wasn't much and I didn't get any repeats. I was just lucky I guess. Oh, and the coupon they send you to get the rest of the registry items...I got mine 4 days AFTER the expiration date on it. I was pissed.

They did the same thing to me!! Thankfully it was just my second job so I didn't really need it. One of my best friends worked there too and they didn't even say anything to her until after I had missed a few days and they weren't going to let me back.

OMG!!! How rude!!! Yeah, um, I didn't like your gift can you give me the reciept please? Even if its because of mutliples...how can you go and ask someone if they have the reciept? Wow that's gutsy of them!!!!

My mom took the 2nd tub return to Walmart. My first shower was in WI back in Feb and I couldn't bring everything back in our car, so my mom offered to take care of the returns for me (so nice of her). She hates Target now too(both FL and WI Targets)-she said even to see the weekend ads in the paper make her sick!!!! My problem is the Walmarts are on opposite sides of the city. Either 30-40 minutes one way or 30-40 the other way. So to do returns...its really inconvieniet...same with babies r us. I thought Targets are everywhere and how easy for everyone. WRONG!!! not easy for me!!!

Thanks for the other post that's too funny!!!

My dad had a bad experience with Sears way back in the day. Although the story is pretty funny. He bought a hunting rifle and found out the barrel was crooked so he took it to return it and the sales clerk said maybe your wife sat on it!!! He didn't let him return it. (My mom is pretty tiny for one, so she obviously wasn't with him - how rude!!!) So I stayed away from there too. Granted that was more of a certain clerk and not the whole chain.
