I really like Elliot. If i had to pick a name out of those with a nickname of Eli, I'd choose elliot.

But Eli itself is a good strong name. It just isn't long

That is another concern I have with Eligh. I know spelling & grammar is hard stuff for people to grasp these days!!! No, my hormones are still controlled at the moment!! lol

Then I would stick with Eli. I think it's fine on its own. My best friend was going to use Eli James had her baby been a boy. Eligh just looks ugly IMO.

I wouldn't spell it as Ely .... I live in a place called Ely and it isn't pronounced as Eli its pronounced E-l- e e

Yeah, I would either choose Eli or Eligh. I'm just so iffy about both, even though I do love how the name is said. I really should invest in a name book so I can highlight names and have them right in front of me.

I like the name and like both how they are both spelt, at the end of the day its how you like to spell it not anyone else ! I've named my wee man Aidan and here it is usually spelt Aiden but me and SO like it spelt with an A instead ! So go with what you like mumma. Personally I would go with Eli its cute, short and snappy and no one can mistake it for anything else  

Eligh just isn't cute. If you feel the need to invent a spelling Atleast fund one that is aesthetically pleasing.

Hmmm I see what you mean, but all the alternate spellings just get weird!

The only thing I can think of is using 'Eel' to convey the strong E sound at the beginning and keep people from saying it like "elle".
Eeli? Smurf, I don't know. You might be best just sticking with Eli, or naming him something longer like people have suggested and just nicknaming Eli.

I went with Eligh and I couldn't be happier. Nobody has pronounced it wrong yet. I'm not even sure why I asked for opinions in the first place.
