Look how THIN these pads are!!

Cloth Facts:
If you were to menstruate for 33 years (ages 12 to 45) using 20 to 25 pads per cycle, in that time you will throw away approximately 8,000 to 10,000 pads!

The average woman will throw away almost 300 pounds of disposable menstrual products in her lifetime. That is 300 pounds of chemicals, processed wood pulp and petroleum based plastic.

Cloth pads require only an extra small load of laundry each month and can last 5-7 years or more. Compare a dozen reusable menstrual pads to the mound of tampons or disposables necessary for 5-7 years! o_O

The FDA does not require disposable menstrual pad or tampon companies to list the ingredients on the label, so you do not know exactly what chemicals are being placed against your sensitive and absorbent tissues for several days each month.

Cost of 30 years worth of disposables: $3,600
Cost of 30 years worth of cloth pads: $240-1,000

How many do I need?
Menstrual cycles vary greatly from woman to woman. In one cycle, most women use 6 to 12 regular pads and 1 to 3 overnight pads and maybe supplement light days with petite liners. It all depends on your flow and how often you do laundry. Change your cloth as often as you would change a disposable. It will take you a cycle or two to get a feel for cloth, and know how many to use.

Does MamaCloth work for light incontinence?
Yes! A number of women use cloth pads for light incontinence. They help prevent irritation and allow your skin to breathe, which is important for people who are wearing them everyday. And just the same as with menstrual use, the number and size of cloth pads you use will depend on how heavy your leakage is.

What about Postpartum use?
Absolutely! You can use the Overnight size for postpartum bleeding. They are much more comfortable than disposables. They won't bunch up, irritate your tender skin, and are breathable!

How to wash MamaCloth -
Washing your cloth is VERY simple and not gross at all!   When you change your pad, just fold it up and put it in either an old baby wipes container, a plastic bag, or if you want to be fancy, you can purchase a "wet bag" or a plastic pencil bag.
At the end of your cycle, just toss all the used pads into your washer and pre-soak for 30 mins or so. Then wash and dry like normal! Only dry them for 20 mins at the most to stretch the life of the PUL. You can also sun your cloth to sanitize them, and remove any stains. DO NOT scrub your pads! This causes the fabric to wear faster.
You can use any detergent you wish, but the more gentle the detergent, the better.
If you don't have access to a machine, you can easily hand wash them. Just soak in cold water for about 30 mins, then squeeze the water out; repeating until the water runs clear.

Got stains?! -

The BEST way to prevent stains is to rinse your pads after use in COLD water! I personally don't do this. I just fold them up, and toss them in my dirty clothes hamper and wash with my regular laundry; and I don't have stains on my cloth.
You can also find products like Biokleen's Bac Out spray. This is an all natural enzyme cleaner that REALLY works to get stains out! I used to use it on my DDs cloth diapers and never had any issues! <3
Bleach is not recommended for the following reasons:
  1. Bleach is hard on the fabric and can deteriorate the area around the snap.
  2. Chlorine bleach is an extremely harmful chemical - both to our bodies and the environment. An oxygen-based bleach is a better alternative.

Fabric Softener is not recommended for the following reasons:
  1. Fabric softener is generally a collection of perfume and chemicals -- which you probably don't want polluting the environment, much less that part of your body!
  2. Using fabric softener actually makes your cloth less absorbent.

Are cloth pads breathable??
Check out this video! I use the same PUL that cloth diapers are made from...

Any questions, please feel free to ask! <3

Its really bendy. Tampons were painful for me which was one of the reasons I turned to the Diva cup. But I found that its so flexible I can barely feel it.

Good morning!   does anyone want to help out the boy who has Luekemia? Once I am able to get on the computer, I will post the flyer. If you don't want to help me get the Ergo, you can at least donate directly to him. <3

You should market your product more.

I doubt anyone cares about helping you get a carrier or some random kid.

i just think you're going about it wrong. are you fundraising, or are you trying to sell products?

i have no clue what the benefits of a washable pad would be. to me (and probably many others) it sounds disgusting

I am trying to sell stuff to gain money to donate myself, but also some extra so I may buy the carrier from a woman who is donating all the money she gets to the same boy....

Here is a good link to explain why switching to cloth is better for not only for the environment, but also your health!
http://lunapads.com/why-switch

I made the switch about a year ago because I developed an allergy to disposables, and tampons HURT! I contemplated the Diva cup, but 1) I was grossed out about possible spillage when taking it out. 2) If tampons hurt me, I figured the cups would hurt worse since they are MUCH bigger. and 3) I feel that I shouldn't hold the blood in when it is naturally supposed to come out. lol
Since making the switch, my periods are lighter, shorter and less painful! I don't have any more rashes either!   Did you know that those disposable companies put chemicals in their products to make you bleed MORE/LONGER, so in turn, you buy more of their products!

Can you provide more info about how to use cloth pads? How to clean them? I use always overnight with wings plus size and have heavy, often clotty periods.

You use them just like disposable pads. They come with snaps, so you just snap the wings around your panties, and you're good to go!

Washing is soooo easy! You can rinse the soiled pads in cold water right after use, and store in an old wipe box, or you can do what I do, and just fold them up, and toss them in the dirty clothes. I wash my pads with my regular laundry, and have never had any issues. They clean very well!
