So they don't get residue build up like cloth diapers?

I should have mentioned that I use home made detergent that is CD safe.

If you want to, you can wash them with CDs (if you do that), or you can wash them separately. I've done some reading on other women's wash routiens, and most of them use regular detergent, and wash with their reg laundry, with no buildup!

Sorry for the all caps.   Didn't even notice. How many would I need for a 5 day long period?

And how long do they last before they need replacing?

(I'm so sorry for all the questions.   I'm really considering this and have been for a while.)

Can you hand wash and hang them to dry and still have them be sanitary?

Not a problem! I'm happy to answer any and all questions!

You can def hang dry and have them sanitary!   Also, sunning is the best way to help with that... I usually sun mine once a month for good measure.

My periods last about 4 to 5 days, and I go through 5-6 the entire time, but I have a light to moderate flow.... The awesome thing with cloth is that you don't feel funky, or gross, and can wear the pads longer.

The pads can last you a good 5 years or even longer if you take good care of them!   I have some that I have had for about a year now, and they still look new!

What do you use to hand wash? That's the only way it would work because I won't have a washer/dryer. How often do you change it?

I change mine once or twice a day, depending on my flow. I am a light to moderate flow.

As far has hand washing... You could wash them in the sink or tub. I recommend soaking very briefly in cool water and a stain treatment to loosen any fluids before washing. Then, rinse and squeeze the pads until the water runs clear. Try to avoid scrubbing them to help them last even longer...

Would you be willing to do a discount if I ordered several? Like 6 for $75 shipped?
