Blood Clotting Disorders

This is for non -pregnant, TTC, or pregnant ladies who are living with blood clotting disorders.
It is a very scary thing we are all going through and we need all the support we can get!

I was told I had Factor V and MTHFR.
A different doctor told me I had none.
And a final doctor said my antibodies coguaglate (i have no idea how to spell this word) and attack the babies, which is why I have to be on lovenox.


Either way, something is wrong with my blood and I have to be on a blood thinner when pregnant and an aspirin a day.

I have factor V and a protein C deficiency currently taking Heparin twice daily.

I'm going to watch this. I will find out on the 27th if something is going on.  

I have Factor V. I had surgeries to remove clots under my heart back in Dec of '10, and have clots still. I'm currently on Coumadin and have been for over a year.

I know there are quite a few mamas who could benefit from this thread.

Great idea trying to get it made as sticky. I don't know that I would think to look in health and well-being though. Could just be me though. I would think more pregnancy issues since that is when most women find out about it, is either TTC or pregnancy.

I figured it would be a better place for people who are having trouble having babies so they dont have to see all the happy pregnancy stuff

That does make sense.

True, but some people have problems outside of TTC or Pregnancy. I think Health & Well-Being is a good place.

For example, my blood disorder and therapy for it has a lot of restrictions for me that go along with physical activity, diet, etc.

As much as I hate these meds, I'm not going to lie and say I'm not scared to get off of them. Every time my doctor changes something, I have terrible anxiety about it.

That is true. I guess it's just my mind, haha. I wouldn't think to look there, but most people would do a search regardless and find it.

How are the Lovenox shots while pregnant? I didn't find out about my clotting disorder until after I had LO and was hospitalized for the clots.

Thats what I am kind of freaked out about  
my doctor keeps assuring me that I will be okay and they aren't bad
but I am so smurfing freaked

I had a couple Heparin injections while I was in the hospital, but I was getting stuck by needles every 2-3 hours for 2 weeks that they didn't even phase me. Not to mention I was on percs and morphine. lol.

I have to get some testing done after I get off my Coumadin to see if I'm going to have problems with Heparin in the future. When I was on a Heparin drip in the hospital, I developed Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia which caused my platelets to drop and I had internal bleeding. If I do have problems with the Heparin, I won't be on Lovenox during my next (possible) pregnancy, but instead an injection med called Desirudin.
