long vent about my babies name

To start I have always had my baby girl name picked out to be Ivy Elizabeth however when I married my husband he had 2 girls which one has the middle name Elizabeth so I decieded not to use that middle name to save any hard feelings with the other daughter. My solution was to have each kid think of a middle name and write it on a piece of paper then I would choose one out of a hat and it would be her middle name. Well I picked the name Ann. I decided that would be it and make the announcement. Later I find out that it is one of my husbands ex's middle name (also the daughters mom) so I changed it to Rayann. My husband agreed. My husband has been married twice before me so out of curiosity I asked what his other ex's middle name is and WTF it is Ray. I am quite pissed that he would agree to let me name our daughter his ex wives middle names. So I am pissed and I am deciding the middle name. It is now Ivy Olivia Ruecker. Does that sound good and am I over reacting?

I like Ivy Olivia. I would NEVER name my daughter a name that was his exes'.

i like Ivy Olivia too...its the best flowing name out of all three anyway ..... ask if he has had any ex.'s with olivia in their name LOL.....

That sounds so good together!! I too would not want my daughter named after one of his exes!!

Well "Ann" is like the defualt middle name in most cases. I know that sounds weird but it is. YesI have it lol I'm sure you husband wasnt wanting to turn down every name you came up with just because someone you dont like may have it so dont be too hard on him. I like Olivia its cute.

Yeah thanks I am not going to be to hard on him. He said he didn't even think about it being his ex's middle names. I think I am just stressing cause I was tring to make everyone happy but when it comes down to it I guess it is my choice anyway.

Tell me about it lol. I got three kids already and another on the way. I have about 50 cousins names (1st 2nd and 3rd we are a huge but close family)to go through just on MY side that doesnt even include my husbands family. Every time I think of one I got to think of EVERYBODY and what theirs is before I choose.

i know what you mean. When we firsdt started picking baby names i was careful to ask..."did you sleep with or date anyone named ....." he thought it was funny. One of his friends though, had a daughter and his g/f said you can name her anything as long as the middle name is Marie, and he picked the name Lexxie....Lexxie Marie...is a porn star ...id be kinda pisssed off, espeacially cuz she didnt know it, and she found out AFTER.

when we decided on the name Bradley my mom was like, but thats your cousin's husband's sister's son's name...... I told her that reallydoesn't effectme! But going through all the names used in a family can drive you nuts! i honestly just stopped caring and my husband and i decided onwhat we liked..

We actually picked names that certain family had. My daughter got Ann from me (yes I kow its a default but I didnt know that at the time lol) My youngest got Lane from her GodFather. My son and (if this one is a boy) will be the ones probably without family names. My son got Nathaniel cause it sounds AWESOME when you yell it with his first name   and I think if this one is a boy its gonna be Gunner. We figure boys pass on their last name so the girls can pass on their middle names if they want.

That's neat that you all do it that way. I gave my son my dad's first name as his middle name, so he will be Bradley John.
