getting induced???

posted 2nd Feb '12
im due tomorrow and with every doctor appointment theres been no change. the doctor said my cervix has not opened, nothing has softened or thinned out, the dr said im not even at the point of getting induced.

so my biggest question is whether or not to get induced???

how far along are you? No need to get induced until 41 weeks

I would wait. Inductions are a lot harder and have a higher risk of emergency c-section if your body isn't doing any of the work before hand.

Your doctor said you're not at that point. If you get too far along, you will really have no choice.

Nope. If you aren't dilated or effaced induction would more than likely lead to a c-section.

Look up Induction Bishop Score. It will show you your chances of a successful induction.

I would wait as long as you can. Try to go into labor naturally. Being induced is no walk in the park.

sorry, somehow I missed the "due tomorrow"

many people aren't dilated before labor starts.

This, csections are more likely needed with inductions. I would Atleast wait until 41 weeks.

"due dates" are an estimate. I was induced for medical reasons and it was not fun. it was hard on me and her and resulted in an emergency c-section

That's all up to you, not your doctor.

my due date was yesterday and my midwife scheduled me to be induced when im 41 weeks   I know some mommas who go to 43 weeks =O.. But my BP has been a little high lately and my babys dad is in the military nd getting deployed soon so we decided to set an induction date.

being induced can make labor horrible, or awesome. I know some people who have labored for like 3 days after being induced, some only a few hours. But i know it makes the contractions come on strong and hard right off the bat, well thats what my midwife told me. 41 weeks is safe to be induced, my doctor wanted to induce me sooner but their was no openings. I think anytime after your due date is a safe time to be induced.

Keep in mind, your induction could fail if your body isnt ready. I know it sucks to think about, so stay positive. No matter how the baby comes out, just be glad the baby is coming out.   good luck.

I was induced and I was only dilated to a 1 and no cervical change at all and with it being my 1st pregnancy I agreed to be induced because I was so ready and excited. But after 31 hours of really intense labor I only got to a 3 and ended up with a c-section. So my advice would to be to wait it out which is hard because your almost there and so ready but it can end up the way you don't want. Hope that helps.
