Remembering...

posted 11th Apr
So I was just thinking about my 3 day stay at the hospital when I was giving birth to Hunter. I started thinking about some of the scary things that happened to me in the first couple of days of being a mommy. I think the scariest thing that happened to me was sending my baby boy down the hallway to get circumcised. I couldn't stop crying. Then when I had to change his first diaper afterwards, the gauze was stuck to his little peepee and I was SO scared to pull it off. I thought I was going to hurt him. I ended up making my mom do it because she is a nurse. I did a lot of research on circumcision and I knew it would be for the best to have it done to him, I just didn't realize how traumatizing it would be. Anyone else have any scary things happen in their first moments of motherhood?

After I had Kairie, my STUPID nurse didn't massage my belly like she was supposed to. She came about a half an hour after I had Kairie and said she had to take me to the bathroom, I told her I didn't have feeling in my left leg yet from my epi and she said not to worry about it. She walked me to the bathroom & let go of me before I got on the toilet, I fell straight to the floor & started passing enormous clots. I ended up hemhorraging really bad. They wouldn't allow me to eat &I was STARVING. Then when I was laying in bed, my STUPID nurse was talking to me, she kept trying to convince me to give Kai a bottle, I refused, my mom was holding Kairie & she started whimpering so I looked over at her & my nurse yelled "LOOK AT ME! I'M TALKING TO YOU!" I hated her.

its not "necesary"(SP) but if you don't do it and they get bigger and don't take care of themselves, they could get a really bad infection and end up gettin it done anyways, its just easier when therel ittle, they dnt remember hte pain.. plus they don't grow up and wonder why they look different from daddy... thats just IMO

It's not necessary to have it done and a lot of people don't do it to their son, but I chose to because, for one, they say that if males are not circumcised, they are more prone to getting STD's when they become sexually active. Second, if my son was to want to have it done later on in life, it would me more painful and traumatizing. Third and least important... I think uncircumcised penis's are even more ugly then the ones that are. lol.

I would of yelled at her and told her to GET OUT! Then calmly call the nursing station and tell them to change my nurse.

We kept asking for a new nurse but they couldn't get us one. I was pissed. I had an amazing nurse through delivery then change of shift came. My mom was SO pissed at her. She's an l&d nurse & when my nurse said I fell, my mom was like "PATIENTS DO NOT FALL, THEY'RE DROPPED!"

My baby was born around the time it got real cold, so I put him in a thick onesie with a hood on it. Me and my mom went to my new house to look around and see what we could fix and I left james in his car seat because he was asleep. After about 15 minutes I went to go check on him and the hood was covering his face and he wasnt moving, so I screamed and ran to the carseat and grabbed the hood up and he was still asleep and breathing but I started crying because I just had so many bad thoughts of what could have happened. The reason Im so scared of things like that is because my sisters son was stillborn, and I cant think of anything worse that could happen for a parent than to have a child die. But I could remember her son's face and how he wasnt moving (gosh Im crying now thinking about that, that was the worst day of my life) anyway that was the thought that went through my head when he wasnt moving, I was scared to death.

The same thing happened to me about the circumsicion. I started crying and didn't want him to get it done. The doctor came back and said she couldn't do it because he was small. I just think she didn't want to do it she kept trying to change my mind. But i was glad she did and relieved i grabbed him and decided not to do it. I felt so bad.

i have a couple things.... when he was about 2 weeks old we took Richie over to see a family friend and when we were leaving i buckled the bottom between his legs and instanly he had this horrible look on his face and gasped like he couldn't breathe, right away i tried getting him back out thinking it was too tight on his chest but the buckle was stuck it took me no more then 5 seconds to get him back out but it seemed like FOREVER i pulled him out and he was fine and the staps were not tight at all so i have no clue what happend my guess is he got pinched somewhere....?
Then when he was about 2 months old he was sleeping in his crib and me and hubby were out in the porch smoking (nowhere near him and 2 closed doors inbetween, of course we had the monitor out there and all the sudden we heard almost like a grunting like he was having trouble breathing... i ran as fast as i could into the bedroom, my husband beat me since he jumped the couch he checked him and said hes fine i just dropped to the floor crying because it scared me so bad......... we think it was one of our cats making the noise since one of them was under the bed (cats are hardly ever in there)
