Just a question (stepparenting)

Let's say you have a baby, you and the father of your child have not been together for 3 years, now your baby is 3 years and he has a fiancee' now. Would you have a problem with your child calling his fiancee' 'Stepmomma' ? And if the child did and you found out, would you try to stop it?

I think that would depend on if it were pushed on the child or not (calling fiance stepmomma). I don't think I would have a huge problem w/ it, it's not like calling them Mom, but I would definitely be more ok if it were his wife and not fiance, I think.

I would prefer that they call her by her name. That's just me though.

not really, because she is his step mom. As long as he isnt calling her mommy, I dont know why that would be a huge deal. If you got married, would you feel the same if he called your husband stepdad?

well that is her stepmom......as a stepmom (sorta....her dad and i aren't married yet) it's really difficult already without the momtrying to cause problems(and believe me....her mom does)

i certainly would cause her name isnt stepmomma its the name on her birth certificate...
regardless of how long they been together your child has a mother..
i would let my child or children know about how i feel and let them know they will call her by her name..

Yes. Big problem.
My hubby and I discussed this, he would hate if we broke up and that happened to him, and I feel the same way.

It's just not their child.

They should be told that isnt their momma in anyway.

i wouldn't have a problem with it. But I do think it's a little weird. I couldn't imagine saying "Stepmomma, can you make me a pb and j?"

Personally, no I wouldn't have a problem with it. Mind you I think if my step daughter called me "Stepmomma" I would find it insanely weird, but that's just me. My sisters call our stepfather "dad" and our dad "daddy" so idk.

yeah stepmomma is a mouthful...but i call my step mom mom and my real mom mom or mother

I call my step mom "Stepmonster" lol. And this was waaay before monster in law came out!

But other than that I call her by her name and I call my step father by his. Now that I have a child he calls my dad and step mom grandma and grandpa and my mom and step dad Mimi and Paw Paw...

i HATE my stepdad but my step mom has been really good to me. i think that especially with step parents if the stepparent isn't awful to the child that a bond should be formed.

i call my stepfather dad cuz he raised me since i was a newborn after my mothers death he remarried years later.. by then i was adopted by another family so i called my adopted mom mom #2 which she still find funny til this day and when .. but when he got married to this woman i was a teenager and we jus called her evil witch but then we grew to love her and we just called her by her name

I didn't get along with my stepmom when we were younger. She was majorly abusive to the point of getting physical with us when we were around 10-14 y/o. But I know if I want a relationship with my father, I have to go through her so I deal with her.

I don't have a major problem with my stepdad except he's not exactly a model citizen, but he's nice enough.
