Preemie moms - weird question

DH and I were talking about when our LO was born. She was a 27 weeker for the ones who don't know me. I remember the first time I changed her diaper, which was the day after she was born, and she didn't look like a girl, her labia wasn't formed yet, and she looked like a boy. I said to the nurse, are you sure she is a girl, she laughed and said yes im sure, but thats a question they hear all the time.

So my question is, was there anything on your preemie that looked different?

This would mostly be a question for Moms of micro-preemies or before 30 weeks.

ETA: besides their tiny size, differences.

lol, Anya's eyes were so small, they only opened to a slight slant for about 2 weeks.

When she was just over a week old, I got sick with the flu and I was gone for about 8 days, worst 8 days of my life, and when I came back, she was opening her eyes fully. It was so great to see.

Nicks eyes were actually sealed for about a week! then when they opened they were HUGE!! lol

DD was a micro-preemie and was the same way but I think the really different thing was that she had an entire lack of butt. Took forever for her to get some butt cheeks! lol Also her nose looked really big when they took the CPAP off. I don't know if that's a preemie thing or if it was the CPAP or what.

Every part of Mia was formed perfectly. She didn't look odd at all... just super tiny, but 3lbs is really tiny...

i agree with the butt!! lol nick did not have a butt at all i was wiping bone!

oh yeah, the butt, the nurses joked that they call it old man's butt, and you reminded me about the nose thing, I am betting it had to do with the cpap, probably made it a little swollen.

When my 29 weeker was 2 days old, I remember looking at him and thinking he had no nipples! Lol, they were so light you could barely see them.

Yes just a joke like last time. I have my ultrasound Wed. And hope to still see just one LO in there now that my tilted uterus has straightened out. I know my cervix isn't doing good, so (and I know it sounds bad, but) I hope its bad enough that my Dr will push through with the preventative cerclage. With Asyia I was just dilating at 13 weeks, I didn't start effacing until 19 weeks, already I am effacing and dilating.

Alex was 1lb 9oz and his penis was massive when he was first born, and he had no nipples   He grew into it and he gained some nipples now, but he still has a flat head from being stuck on his back while in the incubator.... hoping for no helmet

I agree with the nipples, both my 30 and 28 weeker had no butt cheeks and their vaginas were not formed. My 28 weeker is 7 weeks tomorrow and her butt cheeks are getting some fat and her vagina is starting to look like a vagina finally!!
