Honestly, I don't think so. There is a drive/need unlike anything I have ever experienced and the brain processes that go along with it are so hard to describe. you kind of have to feel it yourself to understand.

I don't think anyone can understand alcohol/drug addiction unless they've seen it first hand - whether they've been an addict themselves, or have lived with one.

Maybe to a certain degree, like if they grew up with an addict relative. But there are parts of addiction one can never understand unless having gone through it.

I feel you can read tons and tons about it... but you still won't "get it" until you're there. It's easy for people who have studied it even, to sit there and say "it's not that difficult... just stop"

i don't think so. i mean they can understand it from an outsider's pov... but they couldn't really understand it... kwim? i'm having a hard time explaining myself.

Ive seen addicts my entire life. I understand it, and part of me wishes I didn't.
