I've had it going on 3 years and I loved it at first but then around a year mark it caused a lot of problems.

But everybody's different. Good luck. Take some Tylenol before you get it put in today though.

What sort of problems?

I don't have any Tylenol..or any $ to buy any at the moment. Is the pain that bad.

I'm getting my Mirena put in tomorrow so more power to you, let me know how it was/how bad it hurt/etc. I hear the procedure is the exact same. I would get the Paragard but I like the idea of hormonal protection better than copper. Hormones can lower my periods and after years of nasty 2 week periods, I use the hormones to control that. I couldn't function with 2 weeks of bleeding per month.

My ex has Lortabs from his surgery... I'm taking one of those tomorrow. To help me with the pain.

Well mine fell out, debilitating cramps for most of my periods, excessive bleeding (both of those are side effects though), increase in infections (BV).

The pain was horrid for me because my uterus tilted and they couldn't get it in right at first so it took 3 times before they got it in place, then when it fell out (most like dislodged because it was sitting in my cervix) I had to get it put BACK in place blaah. Lol.

I just don't like hormonal birth control. I've had nothing but problems with it and I'm definitely looking for something without hormones.

I was also thinking about Implanon, but I'm not sure if that's good or not.

How long does the excessive bleeding normally last?

What type of infections? I'm prone to yeast infections

BV ( bacterial Vaginitis)

And my periods are normally 8-10 days. Heavy bleeding lasts like 3-4.
