doctors appointment

ok so i went to my doctors appointment last night i am 37 weeks and 5 days now, anyhow, she checked me i was dialated to a 2 and 80% effaced,

she said something about how effaced i was can make labor happensooner even though i'm only dialated to a 2? i did'nt get it really, anyone understand what she means? this is m y first. i'm new to all this 

also my uterus keeps measuring small cause he always lays on the right side of me so we can never get a good measurment  just a heads up for any moms whoever meausre a little smaller that could be the reason.

Your doctor means your almost ready for labor. Efaced is how thick or thin your cervix is, the higher the percent the thinner it is the closer you are to labor.

oh okay so effacement means more than the dialation, is it what causes dialation? once your 100% effaced?

Not neccessarily(sp) causes dialation but it is what they are mostly measuring 100 percent means your ripe and ready, the dialation is how open the cervix is. When your at 10 then the baby can come out. So your almost ready. Now pay attention to any contractions you have, even if you dont think they are strong write them down until they start coming more regular...
