Big girl bed?
posted 8th Apr
How old were your toddlers before they started sleeping in a regular bed and not the crib? My daughter will be two this week and shows no interest in her "big girl bed".

My were about 2 when they made the transition. Of course we had to buy the coolest bed stuff to make them feel special. Princess all the way!!!

I put Rhilee in a toddler bed at 2... we put it in our room at first so she was sleeping with "us" at first and then she got used to it and we put it back in her room and she loves it. She is 3 now and I'm thinking about a twin for her now because she is just so tall.

We moved maddy into her "big girl bed" around 14 months , I didnt want her feeling like she was getting replaced byt taking the crib from her when the baby got here , So we re-did her room and swapped beds and amazingly she has done an awesome job with it all .... The occasionally naptime she gets up and plays , but ends up passing out before she moves herself to bed , so I have to place her in bed , but like I said its occasionally

I put the bed in my daughter's room with her crib at like 18 months. She played on it and napped on it some times. Then after her second birthday I took the crib out of her room and put the bed right where her crib had been with all the same blankets and stuffed animals. She woke up about 1 or 2 times a night for a while, but always went right back to sleep. I put a baby gate in her doorway to keep her from escaping! Good luck!

my daughter went into her big girl bed at 1 1/2. We did the same thing, Princesses all the way. Just make sure you commit to it. Take the crib completely down. We tried keeping the crib in the room and it didn't work. She wanted to be where she was comfortable. But as soon as we took the crib down, no problems at all.

My son had a toddler bed at 16 months and a twin bed when he turned 2. My daughter was in a twin bedwhen she was 14 months old (the kiddos shared a room, and had a bunk bed, she had the lower bunk). Both did great and neither one fell out or anything. They thought it was so cool to have such a big bed!

I guess I'm kind of out of this conversatio. I put mine in toddler beds as soon as they could climb out of their crib, which was at about a year old.

My step son was about 2 and a half and he was excited about it.

We just introduced the toddler bed about a month ago, and Gregory is currently 29 months. He had no trouble transitioning, and even though it's a plain toddler bed, he felt so special climbing in and out of it on his own. He loves it so much, and I'm actually surprised the sudden transition didn't upset him (we did an overnight sort of thing and he hasn't looked back since). I think if you make it seem very exciting, which is what we did, then there shouldn't be any trouble. :]

I did when my daughter was about two. I bought her the plastic Dora bed at walmart for $50 and they still sell them! They have all different kinds. And matching comforter set. She has NO problem transitioning. My problem was at night she would constantly get out of bed to play just because she could.

I moved my daughter into her "big girl bed" when she was 20 months old. But we skipped the toddler bed and the twin bed and just moved her right into a double bed. We bought the side rails so she doesn't fall out and she LOVES it. We haven't had a problem yet and she been in it for nearly 4 months now. I would take your daughter shopping and have her pick out her bedding. I think getting my daughter involved really helped.
