My daugther was in her toddler bed at 14 months and she loves it. She had already learned to put herself to sleep so it was great.

My youngest just over two now went into a big girl bed a little over one and half. She was just too big for her toddler bed and she loves it made no problems moving into it. Im guessing it has alot to do with the fact I have two teens that she adores and wanted to be like them and we put Dora sheets on it and shes been sleeping big for awhile now.

I just put my son in a toddler bed so he wouldn't think the new baby is taking over when it gets here. He had been in his bed for a little over a month now and he hasn't had too many problems. We put it in our room for the first two weeks and then put it back in his room and he hasn't had any issues. When it's bedtime I just tell him to go to his bed. Like one of the other moms said sometimes he climbs out and plays and falls asleep on the floor, but not very often.

I've been wondering when to do this too. My daughter is almost 19 months. I thought I would wait until she tried to climb out of her crib. She has never tried to yet.

i remember Donovan was 15 months when he went into his big boy car bed.. he was always the easiest of my kids.. he slept with me so long that the transition was easy.. i thought it would be hell. then when Sydnee was around 13 months i noticed that she liked sleeping in her big brothers bed, so we went to the store and i let her pick one out and all the sheets and everything.. we set her bed up next to her big brothers and she slept in it that night and has loved it ever since.. she feels like a big kid in it i guess.. well my youngest is turning one in 4 days and i can't wait to take down this damn crib.. changing the sheets is a pain in my neck, and my back.

My daughter just got her first real big girl bed. We went and got her this cute little white day bed. There are no side rails or nothing on it and she sleeps in it wonderfully. I just have to get some plastic to put on it since were in potty training now. She just turned 2 in march btw.

My son was about 15months when he jumped out of his baby bed! We changed it to the toddler bed that night...it took a while for him to get used to it. He will be two in two weeks and now he climbs in and out of his brothers crib and I will put him in his bed at night and find him in the crib in the morning.
I say keep them in the crib till they start trying to climb over...

DS never tried to climb out of his crib, but since we moved back here in March,, that's when DS was moved into a toddler bed (he was just over 2.5 at the time).

At about 18 months, I converted Katelyn's crib to a toddler bed and she didn't have any problems at all. I was more concerned about it than she was. A few months later we put a twin bed in there and she loves it! Also, at first we just used her crib stuff so she would be familiar with it and then we just bought a pretty quilt for her twin bed, so you don't have to do Dora or Princesses if you don't want to!

Im getting ready to transition my son from crib to a big boy bed when he turns two. I'm doing the *cars* theme...he loves cars..so I figure it wont be too hard to keep him in there. my mom's got a degree in childhood development and says that you should wait until the child is two if you can, before moving into a big bed..because technically they arent toddlers until they're two..thats just what she says..as she's learned and continues to learn..she often takes new classes to keep current with her job *she's a head coordinator for daycares at the university in my town* I tend to trust her judgement over anyone elses but again i guess it's personal preference..
