re: my home birth

I was so drawn into this story.  I even felt like I was reading a biography by a award winng author. You should print this. As a matter of fact. You should write your own pregnancy book and publish it! I would buy it! Congrates on Max. Wheres the photos? Yet again - the labour story...WOW. I nearly felt that I was there!

Wow thats an amazing story. I have a sugesstion for the placenta. My sister in law who has had several home births buries the placenta and puts a tree on top of it to grow. That way she has a tree that grows along wth her child and the placenta nourishes the tree. I think its so neat that she does that. Congatulations on your birth.

thanks, unfortunately, we don't have a yard right now (we live on the beach but it's public access) ... i've actually decided to take it to my mom's and bury it under this plum tree outside my childhood bedroom in oregon. i watched that tree grow since i was a child (born in my mother's bedroom) until i left home for college at the age of 18.

me too!!... not too many sites or online communities around that support homebirths... But I think with the buzz about Business of Birthing.. and more and more women opting to take their labor into their own hands... we might see a change in the tide

i had a fully licensed midwife there -- she's assisted in more than 3000 births and also used a dopplar to intermittantly monitor max's heart rate... so i wasn't doing it w/out medical help in that sense.

Congratulations Mara! I am so glad you had a successful home birth. Having been through both a home and hospital birth myself I really think the home birth is so amazing. So, now that it is all over, would you have another baby at home?
