You'll have to call around and check out the daycares in your area... some daycares won't take children unless they're 6 weeks old and have whatever shots they're supposed to have at the time.

Others won't take children unless they're a bit older. Its best to start looking around now and doing the research before your child is here... definitely makes it a lot easier on you.

You can also google a sheet that has important questions to ask potential daycare providers... I would also search this forum to see what others have asked and how they chose their daycare

I started Rayden at 9 wks. I found his home daycare provider 3 months before I had him and had 3 interviews with her before I made my final decision. I made sure she was state certified and reviewed all her certifications along with recommendation letters. Plus I visited her facility a few times (plus the interviews) different times of the day to see her interaction with the other children. I also insured there were enough help for the amount of children she took in. I didn't want my son neglected because of too many babies. This week is his 3rd week and I am 100% satisfied. But like the other ladies said most places won't take them until they are 6 wks. As far as shots, I know I had to have his 2 month shots no later 30 days of him being in the daycare.

Andrew was in daycare at 5 months. That is just because he was not released from his doctor to go to daycare. I was check around. I dont know what part of OK you are from. I had the hardest time finding a daycare. You can also go to www.dhsok.com and they have where you can look there as well. they also have if there has been any complaints or be sited for anything.

Firstly, I feel badly for you American ladies who only have mat leave for 6 weeks and have to put your little babies in daycare so early and return to work. Here in Canada, we have a year mat leave. There are some daycares that accept infants at 3 months here, but that's pretty well the youngest because of the mat leave here in Canada. You're the only one who can decide how early to put her in. I wouldn't reccomend a home daycare though. I am sure there are lots of wonderful home care providers, but there is a bigger chance of maltreatment in a home care than a licenced day care facility. Shop around, have interviews with all your potential daycares, and ask lots of questions. There are sites online, here is one. http://www.ahealthyme.com/topic/topic13485 ... Lots of good questions on there, also, get a tour of the daycare during the hours of operations, and try and go around 10am, (busy part of the day) so you can see how the daycare really runs. If you ask to spend some time in the program to see the interactions and activities, they should be able to grant this.

Good luck!
