Child support question/Cash Aid

I just applied for cash aid and I was approved as of the 1st yet I start work on the 4th. I am HOPING I can still qualify for day care under CalWorks. If I get day care paid for, will they go after BD for it? I've never been on aid before but he left me high and dry.

Also, he doesn' teven have a place to watch our daughter at. He wants to watch her at my house. I'm not sure how I feel about it or if I even believe that he will do it. And when the child support goes through I'm afraid he'll fight it if he is watching her at MY house only while I am at work. I may as well just send her to day care where I know she'll be taken care of without the Drama... KWIM?

Yes if you're on cash aid they will go after the BD for money. They will take a portion (if not all) of his child support he's paying to pay back the state.

Do they know you start work on the 4th?

Oh smurf.. that's right.... Well, I am gonna have to cancel my cash aid because now I'm going to be working... but I got approved for $500. because I can live on that right??  

I'm hoping to ba-jesus I get daycare paid for.

But I mean, for child support.... He has to pay around $350 PLUS what I would be paying for daycare. But if I get daycare paid for, does he owe the state?

I called and told my worker. She said I have to wait until I recieve something in the mail. I haven't actually received the aid yet. She said I'll have a seperaete worker for the "back to work" program and they'll be the one I discuss it with. I won't be on cash aid next month. I'm wondering if they'll take child support money for day care if I get it paid for.

Daycare, no.
Well you still will probably get something. My friend was getting the full amount, then she got a job and she gets less, but still gets some  

When you are on cash assistance and you get a job they cut your cash. The same would go for once you start getting child support they cut your cash. Child support starts the day you file. If it takes a while for your child support to come through the state will pay till the father starts paying (that is how guys get in arears). Then they end up paying 10% of what they owe the state for supporting you and your kid/s. The state usually covers child care if you are working over 20 hours. That is how it is in my state atleast.

They didn't pay me for my son's child support order and he ended up passing away before they could collect anything from his dad.... so I'm not sure if it's the same here.


I will be working 40-60 hours a week when I go back to work. So I won't be on cash aid. I make about $2500 but right now I don't make anything.

I just barely went on cash assistance starting the new 2013 year. My kids father owes me back pay in child support and i have found out that the he is getting back some money for taxes. What i want to know is the little amount that he is getting back will i get all of it or is child support going to give it to the state. I would think because all last year i didn't receive cash assistance and there his taxes from last year i would get the money but i don't know
