I can finally post that I am a mommy. It feels wonderful to say that. I went in on Wednesday April 2 to be induced at 7am. Everything started out really well. They hooked me up to the monitors and I was actually already contracting every 4-5 minutes. The doctor checked me and I was dilated 2-3 cm. Around 8:15am the nurse started me on pitocin. At about 8:30 my doctor came in and broke my water. Things went really steadly and I was having decent contractions almost immediately. I ended up getting into thewhirlpool tub, which felt SO good. I was checked again at about 1:30 and I was 4cm. I got a Nubain at that point and it only lasted about 3 contractions. It was about and hour later when I requested the epidural and I was then about 6 cm along. The epi was wonderful. It took away the contraction pain fully. I was actually able to sit up and laugh and stuff with my family. Around 4pm I was checked again and was 8-9cm dilated. I was making significant progress at this point and the nurse was hoping that I would be delivering within an hour or so. At about 4:30 I was checked and I was almost 10 cm, so they had me start pushing. My contractions were coming about every 1 and a half minutes but they were not lasting too long. So they upped the pitocin every 15 minutes or so. My doctor came in after about an hour of me pushing and I had made a small amount of progress. My doctorchoose to use the vaccume to try to help get the baby out around 5:45. This was unsuccessful. The baby just wasn’t coming down the birth canal properly. I was getting absolutely exahusted by this point. On top of that my contractions were about every 30 seconds because they had upped the pitocin to the max it could be set at. Then, my epi wore off. I was in a TON of pain. The worst part of the pain was in my back. It was so bad. The doctor deceided to try to use forceps as a last resort. He said that if that didnt’ work I would have to go in for a c-section. I tried my hardest to get my baby out. Unfortunately for me I just couldn’t. My doctor said that we were going in for a c-section. I was devestated. I just sat there in the middle of the birthing room, crotch hangin out, people running around me...crying. It felt like I had failed. It wasn’t long before I was in the O.R. and people were just flying around me. Because the epi had wore off they had a hard time getting me numb again. They ended up pumping me full of so many drugs that the birth was a blur...and that is putting it nicely. Finally, at exacly 7pm my little boy entered the world. I can still hear his daddy asking me "Can you hear him?? Can you hear him crying?". Dominik William Estupinan weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and measured 19 and 1/2in. long. He is absolutely perfect. Both me and my husband could not be more happy to be parents and it truely made us love each other even more. I think that I might have fallen in love with Julio all over again . He is an amazing father who is in love with his little boy.As it turned out the baby was comingdown with his head to the side. There was no way that he was going tofit. Dominik and I are still adjusting to breastfeeding. It was MUCH harder then I thought it would be. But everyday is better then the last. We got home yesterday after a three day stay in the hospital. I am so glad to be home with my son. It feels good to be typing this and look down at him sleeping in his bouncer. (Thanks uncle Andy, the bouncer is AMAZING!! Puts him to sleep every time!) I couldn’t be more happy to be a mommy and all of the pain and problems are more then worth what I got in the end. Now, the fun begins!!
