The Labor and Delivery story:
I woke up at 7am feeling pretty crappy and ended up puking in the shower. After that lovely event , I went and layed on the couch to read. It was there that I felt my first ontraction but I just figured it to be braxton hicks since Graci still wasnt due for 5 days. By the time my husband finally woke up, 10am, the contractions had become stronger and closer together. At 10:44 I began to time my cotractions wich were for the most part 5 min. apart. I did this for an hour then called L and D. L and D told me to wait till I could no longer talk through my contractions and they were 3 min apart before calling again. So I waited maybe 20 min. or until the contraction were bringing tears to my eyes and then called them again and told them I was coming in. The nurse said that was fine, to just pick up my medical file from the ob clinic on the way in.I thought this to be a crazy thing to ask a woman who is having very painful contractions so I just went to L and D and even that was quite a walk! I get there, they stuck me in triage till I complained a few times about pain, then they finally checked me and realized that I was 5cm dialated and 8% effaced. So they had me walk to the other side of the ward to the room I would deliver in. I think it might have been like 10 min. before I sent my husband out complaining of the pain again. So I got checked again and was 10 and -1. The only thing holdin my girl in was the bag of water wich they broke. Then they finally gave me the epi. The epi stopped my contractions and made me unable to feel anything. My legs were useless. So they took me off the epi and started me on patocin. This led to me feeling nothing but pain, no urge to push, or my legs. 2 hours of pushing, while a Dr. I didn't like to begin w/ made me feel like a crap mom for not pushing better, and then Graci was born. I was in so much pain and shock from the evil Dr. stiching me up down there, that I feel I didn't really get to fully appreciate my daughter's birth, but her little cry did bring joyful tears to my eyes! My poor husband was a bit torn, he didn't know weather to stay at my side or go see his baby girl, till I finally told him to go see her. I still hurt pretty bad, and I was never told what exactly was done to me (gotta love the military) but it was all worth it!
