hating work...*rant*

posted 4th Apr
Well, Monday (3/31) I returned to work at Lowes. When I left, I was a head cashier over the frontend, but now they have me in plumbing. PLUMBING!! Of all departments, they stick me in the one I know the least about. They said they no longer need anymore head cashiers. I don't think this is right, though. As far as I knew, my position was supposed to be held. I looked up the FMLA rules and such and it states that if they do move an employee to a different position, it has to be one of equal status. I was a supervisor, now I'm just a sales assoc. Grr! I hate my job. I'm going to try to talk to my store manager tomorrow b/c HR is useless. If nothing comes of it, I'm either transferring or quitting.
You know, it's already hard enough to leave my beautiful baby boy everyday but having to deal with crap is just bullshit.

I think they have to hold you a job of equal pay but I am not sure if its the same postition or not. That sucks! I hope you get things worked out!

If you find the number to call about jobs and pregnant people, let me know =]
And that's some bullshit. I would be reporting that, too.

From what I was told, they were supposed to hold the exact position for 12 weeks, then after that just have to be restored to an equivalent position with equivalent employment benefits, pay and other terms and conditions of employment.

My mom works in HR and this is what she told me about FMLA.
In order to be eligable for coverage under FMLA you need to have held your job for at least a year.
Your employer is required to hold your position for you for 12 weeks. Although they may hire someone to replace you for the time you are out, they MUST return you to your position when you return. However if for some reason the postion no longer exists (Like the department you worked in was disbanded) then they must give you a position equal to the one you held in both pay and position.
If after talking to your supervisor you still haven't gotten anywhere, I would call the better business bureau and report them. The BBB can probally give you some advice on what to do from there.
Good Luck.

Is that anywhere like in writing that I could print off or something. I'd love to have that on hand when I go talk to my store manager.

This is a link for the printable poster of FMLA rules. Also check the bottom for a number you can call with questions.

And this link is to some faq about FMLA from the department of labor

Check out the answer for your rights and benefits. From there check out the answer for equivelent job. It specifies same status under there. Also there is a link on how to file a complaint if Lowes refuses to restore your position.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Thanks. I'm going to show that to my boss when I talk to him on Monday.
