Child beauty queens??

posted 3rd Apr
So I was just watching this documentary on the Jon Benet Ramsay case, and it got me thinking. Why would any parent bleach their childrens teeth, dye their hair, slap some makeup on them, and put them on stage?? I look at these little girls and I just feel bad for them. They are 4/5/6 years old and they look and act like they're 20 +. Are they really given the chance to just simply be children? And what type of message are the parents sending these kids saying "you're not good enough" they way you look normally. If you had a girl would you allow them to do these pageants? And what do you think about the mothers that do this? And what could possibly motivate the mothers that do put their children in these, is it money, is it socialization??

my point of view. I would never allow my little girl. The entire thing just sort of creeps me out with pedophiles and rapists out there. That and putting them on this stage like some sort of trained monkeys with this perfectly plastered smile on their faces, walking around shaking their butts, just doesn't seem right.

Some pictures of these little grown up girls

I would never do that to my child. She is beautiful just the way she is. I am not against pagents though but all the makeup and stuff is ridiculous!

I think it's creepy. I would never force that on my daughter.

The girl in red looks like a porcelain doll.

I would personally never put my daughter in pagents. If when she's older it's something she is interested in than I would only have her compete in the ones where makeup and such isn't allowed. I agree that kids need to be allowed to be kids and not forced to worry about being perfect or disappointing anyone.

The last two pictures creep me out... they look so fake like little plastic dolls... I think it is sad and No I would not put my baby girl through this if and when I have a baby girl... It's too demanding and demeaning in my eyes anyway

Beauty pageants...I say no...talent shows...sure. Ya, all that makeup has got to go!! What kind of parent has the time to do all that anyway??!! It's like they are obsessed with their child but in the wrong way!!

Haha thats what I was thinking. And no, I would never put my daughter in a pagent like this!!! My boyfriend and I were actually watching the pagents on True Life I think and he was like "thats disgusting what they do to their kids.. Ryleigh will NEVER be like that". The moms were yelling at them because they didnt smile on stage and the one girl wanted to quit and her mom wouldnt let her. It was really sad actually.. atleast I thought so.

I honestly think it's child abuse, and feeds pedophilia. The topless pic of the little girl made me want to throw up.Whether or not the parents want to admit it, they are sexualizing these little girls in a disgusting way. I have no problem with pageants, but I think the attire should be more age appropriate.

My daughters will NEVER do this... If they particpate in a pagenat it will be when they are of age and out of my control... I cannot imagine what spurns a parent to do that to thei children, but I figure kids have enough trouble dealing with image issues that media gives us, why should we make it worse for them? Besides there are too many creeps out there!! You dress your 9 yr old up like she is 25 and parents are shocked when some creep stalks and rapes her... Same reason my girls will not be dressing the way most girls do these days... I swear, every day the new styles come out it looks more and more like Baby Hookers R Us in the Girls dept! Its ridiculous. This is my toned down rant against suchbtw LOL

For those of you who are saying that your daughters will never do this, would you let them if they wanted to? If they came to you and asked if they could participate?
