working out while pregnant....
posted 3rd Apr
i was wondering if there is anyone out there who is working out consistantly while pregnant? i go to the gym 5x a week and do cardio every day and some weight training 3x along with stretching before and after. i've added some yoga into my pre-workout stretching. i'm not pushing myself too hard, i've cut down the intensity a little bit to keep my breathing under control.
what i'm really wondering is how othre people fared during their pregnancies as they progressed.

I treadmilled 2 miles a day/ 5 days a week and did some pre-natal yoga. My doctor cut me off of it at 35 weeks until 37 weeks, but until then, that's what I did !

You should be fine doing what you feel comfy with. I don't remember what my workout was, as that was 4yrs ago. But, I do remember working out until about 33 wks. Then, I had my daughter at 38 wks. The only reason that I quit is because I still worked full-time, and I just got tired and lazy. Good Luck!

if this was your routine prior to pregnancy, you really should be alright. Just be fair and listen to your body as you are now sharing it! intense cardio and some wight training will need to be cut out later or atleast drastically downsized. stretching is never bad, again just don't push your slf later in pregnancy and if you are not a yoga sage, then don't start any inverted poses! otherwise more power to ya! I have a cousin who runs 7-10 miles a day until her docters stop her at about 32-34 weeks, she is never happy to stop. She has struggled with eating disorders and the such, so i always question her motive in the running, I feel it is very selfish! So Be Active! Just know when too much is too much.

my Ob said to keep doing what ever I was doing... but I did have to drop my 3x a week aerobics class (but that had to do with the neausea and extreme fatigue) during the first trimester but when that was over I picked up a water aerobics class, one day is cardio and one day of body sculpting, other than that I'm just walking, so it's not as serious as what you are talking about, but I've been able to keep up pretty well but this week I've started to notice a noticable decrease in my stamina. I am also teaching full time so I"m on my feet ALOT during the day and have to go up and down stairs a lot to go to the office and bathroom

I work out every day, I started working out when I hit my second trimester. I was working out before i got prego, but it was just too hard with the sickness and fatigue in the first trimester. I do about 30-40 minutes of cardio and weights every morning, and after work I walk an hour with my dog. I couldn't imagine not working out, I feel so much better afterwards. So just listen to your body, don't overdo it and you'll be fine.

I'm in the army.. So I'm used to running 20-30 miles a week. Once I found out I was pregnant, I was glad to take it down a bit. I'm right at the end of my first trimester, and have NOT felt like running anywhere in awhile. Hopefully soon I'll get some willpower to get up and hit the gym. If only the nausea would quit beating me up!
