no, its not supposed to slide more than 1/2 an inch. i was told to climb into the car and put my bodyweight on top of it to tighten the belt down as far as it could go.

I got lucky, my grandparents bought a new car and sold me there 01 Prism, for just like hundreds of dollars...we sold my old car to a friend. I was so glad to get the latch system...it does make it a ton easier.

I sat on it while my step dad pulled it and it still slides back and forth. My car was definitely not made for children.

That is what I would have to do, I was like always in on top of it full body weight trying to tighten it. LOL

what exactly do you mean when you say it *doesn't lock like its supposed to*? when you pull them all the way out do the belts lock? or are they lightweight locking latchplates? can you take a pic of the part of the seat belt where they meet please

no it shouldnt move more than 1 inch at the belt path on either side. let me know about the seat belts and then we'll go from there
