GED testing

posted 6th Dec '11
so i've been telling myself over and over that i'm going to get my GED but i'm just scared to fail the test and never do it. well i really want to start going to school so obviously i need to take the test. does anyone know of any good sites or books that i can get that can help me prepare for the test? the only way i can take a class here is by paying for the test beforehand and testing the next available date but i'm worried that it's going to be too soon and i'll fail so i'd rather study on my own time and then just pay to take the test...i live in texas if that makes a difference..

I just borrowed a GED book from the library. I was homeschooled and my education was short-changed (didn't learn anything after 8th grade), but I passed with flying colors.

Honestly, the test is super EASY.

Math was the hardest just because I hadn't brushed up on it in sooo long...
But the rest was ridiculously easy.

Smurf. I dropped out my freshman year... & I had failed all my 8th grade classes just because I didn't want to do the work or pay attention.
I'm tellin' you... it's beyond easy.

With language, they give you a sentence & you put what's wrong with it. Like capitolization or something.
With social studies, they give you a map & ask you a question ABOUT the map. It's like... seriously? lol.
With science... they'll give you a paragraph & ask you what the hypothesis or something was...
With writing... they give you a topic & as long as you stay ON topic, you're fine. EASY.
Math wasn't THAT bad... I've just never been good at it. They give you all the formulas & stuff though.

Your local community college may offer GED testing and sometimes they offer classes that you can take before hand to brush up on the subjects.

Where in TX are you?

Did you ever graduated from a college or university after getting your GED, that's what I want to know because I was thinking about getting my GED but I wondered if people who have taken the GED do they have trouble finding work?
