Stupid Facebook Christmas thing.

These things are ALL over my Facebook.
Please discuss how stupid they are.
I want to comment on one girl who added the "PROUD TO BE CANADIAN" thing and/or really punch her in the esophagus.

I mean.. there are some Canadians who don't celebrate Christmas.
And pretty sure "Happy Holidays" is just easier, to accommodate everyone. It's not that hard to say happy holidays. I also don't know anyone who gets insulted when you say "Merry Christmas"

WHAT A CROCK OF Smurf..... We can't say Merry Christmas... now we have to say Happy Holidays. We can't call it a Christmas tree, it's now called a Holiday tree! WHY???....Because it might offend someone...Well.... If you don't like our "Customs" and it offends you so much, then LEAVE.... I will help you pack. Why do we have to change our "Traditions" because of you??? We already have changed enough of them to support "Your Traditions" ....If you agree with this...please post this as your status!! She sounds like a moron. Christmas isn't a national thing, its a religious thing...

I got yelled at last year at my job for saying Merry Christmas in front of my boss.

Wow. I'm sure all the non-Christian Canadian-born citizens are just loving that.

I will always call it a Christmas tree, and will always say Merry Christmas. If I am talking to someone as a whole, or at my daughters school, and I am unsure of what they celebrate, Happy Holidays will suffice.

I think things likes this are ridiculous. For one my ancestors arrived in the 1640's so im pretty sure you can say ive been here long enough. and second of all, i never celabrated xmas before meeting my SO. not that id get pissed if someone told me merry xmas, but i understand that not everyone celebrates the holiday and having a phrase such as have a happy winter is much more useful and you dont risk pissing off anyone. But these things are stupid and to be honest I always thought Canada was proud to be a land of welcome to anyone in the world, a place that accepts everyone as equal and treats difference with respect. This status is tacky and goes against what I believe Canada should be.

I think its all stupid. Especially the people who post the can't take Christ out of christmas thing. I thing everyone should be able to call it whatever they want but just remember it was the winter solstice first. A pagan holiday.

Like, when people say "Happy Hanukkah" I don't get insulted.
I'm not like "OMFG I CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, take dat back."
People need to chill, so bad.
