Membrane Stripping??

posted 28th Mar
So I have a bit of a problem. Me and my husband live far away from family and we have a toddler (3 year old boy)... My mom came down when I was in the hospital for severe dehydration last week but she HAS to go back by tuesday and we NEED her to watch our son when i'm in Labour or my husband wont be able to be with me.. My Dr. suggested stripping my membranes but it's up to me, I'd LOVE any info on experiences from other women who've had this done... Did it work? How much did it hurt? How soon did you go into labour? Anything would be great. Thanks!!

It only works if your body is ready....

Having it done doesn't mean you'll go into labor within 24 hours or even a week.

I had mine done yesterday and I'm still here... No constant contractions or anything different than before it was done.

You can always try walking and sex to help the labor process, but again unless your body is ready, it won't do anything.

i had my membranse stripped at week 38. Personally,I thought it was painful. After my doctor did the procedure, I bleed a lot and had cramps and mild contractions. My water broke a day and a half later. It works on some women but not all. I would say it's up to you... and it wouldn't hurt to try it if you wanna get things moving! Good luck!

I've been walking everyday for the past week. I understand FULLY that it'll happen when it's happens but i'm going to try everything safe to speed this along because it's my husbands first and last born child biologically and I really don't want to go through labour alone 100%.
