I've made a HUGE mistake.

posted 27th Mar
Ryan spent 6 weeks in the hospital, and I only got to hold him "when I was allowed". But now that I have him home, I feel the need to hold him ALL THE TIME. I've gotten his little butt spoiled, and I'm kicking myself in the butt for it. I just don't know what to do, have I dug myself a hole that I can't get out of? He only falls asleep after he's laid on my chest for like 30 minutes, I love it but the second I move him, he cries again so I put him back and he goes back to sleep. It's a viscous circle. He's got me wrapped around his little finger. It's just so stressing for me to hear him cry

Do not worry you cannot spoil a baby that young. Go ahead and hold him!!!!! Just think of it as making up for all the years he will tell you that hugs and kisses from his mom are yucky/embarrassing LMAO Love on him girl, its not gonna hurt him!!!!

I have hear this one many times... my husbands mom got her step daughter a bear that has a heart beat....

I guess waht it is is that the baby gets smoothed out after hearing your heartbeat because he/shes been in your stomach listenin to it for so long that that is what its used to

try to get a bear with a heartbeat in it..i heard it works wonders.

I did the same thing with my preemie! I feel your pain. At first it will be so hard but you have to do it now or he will be sleeping with you until he is 10. lol Every night lay him in bed and tell him night night and walk out of the room. Let him cry for ten minute or even five if you want, but make it more and more minutes every few nights. As you go on the baby will realize that he is ok without you and you will be back. It worked for me, Hope it helps for you!

Well, the only reason I feel qualified to even reply to this is b/c my baby brother was the same way, his mother spoiled him, and I was basically like his mother the first two years of his life b/c it wsan't convenient for her to be...but she made him the same way and I just had to let him cry it out. It broke my heart to do so, but eventually he learned to self soothe he learned when I put him to bed it was BED time, and I only went in when I knew it was a hungry cry or a change me cry...I'm sorry I know I'm not much help but if you can stand it long enough for it to work it works wonders!

He sleeps in a bassinet right next to my bed so it's so hard for me to just let him cry, but I guess I'm going to have to give it a try. And I never thought of a sling, Dakotas mummy.. which one do you use?

xxunsurexx -- do you know where she got the bear from? That's what they taught me in the hospital, to lay him next to my heart.. it's a comfort to him, so maybe I should look for this bear?

See, I'm just worried to do that since he was so premature. We've got a doctors appt. today (Friday) so maybe I'll ask the doctor if I should just let him CIO?

I held my son a lot also. To get him to sleep, I would swaddle him tight and put a sound machine in his room (I played the sound of the ocean, but it also has the heartbeat sound). Swaddling saved me, and I swaddled him until he was almost 6 months

i ordered one online its made by the baby sling company and its really nice its tan and pink and it can be used right up untill they are about three because you can have it in a snuggle hold as if you were nursing or so they are sitting uprifht agaianst your chest or back and it can be used as a hip carrier to so i think it the best thing going at the moment it has really made life ten times easier!!!

i got the heartbeat bear at target, but my son doesn't really like it anymore. He likes the sound of the air purifier more. If it's not on he wakes right up the second I lay him in his crib.
